Lately I've been trying to pull myself together

And you know even though I am still so broken

Sometimes I look outside 

And I see the blue skies, the sun shining, and the birds singing

And for a little bit I forget everything that is flawed in my life

There is so much beauty in this world

And I can't wait to explore it all  

These are the moments I realize I'm only 16 

And that this pain is only temporary

Two large pinches in my lumbar vertebrae To remind me of the way I broke my back for you.

With a small gasp, I grind my teeth in nostalgia of the serotonin that that released within the sheets of my despair.

& in a sudden instant I am reminded, Of the bad taste you left in my mouth.
