TUG-OF-WAR: SPARTAN 276 VS SHARENA

“Here have our second Tug-of War! Between Lady Sharena and La- er... Spartan? Spartan 276... Oh, it says here she goes by Rebecca. Well, between Ladies Sharena and Rebecca, one of them will move on to face against Ephriam.”

“How many people named Spartan do you think there will be? Their family must have been going on a long time to reach the 276th person inheriting that name... Gods, how many years ago was the first one?”

Round 1

Sharena: 16 (FAVOR bonus)

Spartan 276: 7

Round 2

Sharena: 9

Spartan 276: 8

Both warriors take their end of the rope in hand and when the bell rings, they pull. Sharena takes a swift approach, eagerly jerking her end of the rope backwards and taking Spartan 276 by surprise. Spartan 276 stumbles over the mid-line, giving Sharena a point.

They both return to their starting positions for the second round, but again, Sharena catches her opponent by surprise, this time making Spartan 276 trip into the dirt, scoring another point.

SHARENA: 2 SPARTAN 276: 0

“It looks like Lady Sharena has taken an early lead. But there are still three more rounds to go, and Lady Rebecca might make a recovery.”

“Rebecca is far easier to say than that 200 and something stuff...”

Spartan 276: 17 (FAVOR bonus)

Spartan 276: 18 (Trick-or-Treat OAK bonus)

Spartan 276 is determined to make a comeback, and when Sharena tries to take out her balance once again, Spartan 276 bends her knees and keeps a low center of gravity. When Sharena’s weight is tilted back in a pull, Spartan 276 jerks the rope, sending Sharena tumbling forward and tripping.

The crowd begins to rumble with excitement as the 4th round begins and they wonder who will take the day. Spartan 276 makes another go at pulling Sharena off balance. They struggle, at a stalemate of strength, until Spartan 276 squeezes her grip and pulls. Sharena falters and stumbles over the mid-line.

SHARENA: 2 SPARTAN 276: 2

“A tie! Chrom, how exciting! They’re in the final round, and it all comes down to this--”

“Sharena may not have the largest build, but she’s got some good technique there, even if Rebecca is countering her. Will it be enough?”

Round 5

Sharena: 16 (Trick-or-Treat OAK bonus)

Spartan 276: 12

It is the last and final round of the Tug-of-War, and whoever wins will move on to the semi-finals. Sharena sets her gaze and makes a plan. At first, the two competitors are at another stalemate, with the rope taunt between them. Then Sharena loosens her grip suddenly, taking Spartan 276 by surprise and sending Spartan 276 falling backwards. Sharena gets the last point of the game!

SHARENA: 3 SPARTAN 276: 2

“Brava! They both did so well, I’m quite impressed. Two very evenly matched warriors, but it is Lady Sharena who carries on to the next match.”

“Sneaky. It was a risky tactic, but it paid off in the end... I can think of a certain somebody who might like to talk strategy with her.”

Her finger pointed out toward the child that only stand a few feet away. Tharja having to remind herself to not dare cast a freezing spell upon any of the travelers from the future. Lest she be forced to face the wrath of their parents. Though, in the end, she wouldn’t blame any of the others for acting that way. Seeing as she had her own little protective measures when it came to Noire.

“How...well do you know the other children here? I’m assuming you all traveled together for quite some time.”

The mage had gone through some lengths to figure out which of the children would be the best to approach. Finding that the timid one may be her best bet. Able to weasel answers out of the other with ease, no doubt.

        “--Juliet, do you want to go to the Harvest Festival with me?” Nothing short of an innocent inquiry, she truly did want to go! Morgan can’t remember the last time she’s been to one, and the young tactician was itching for a little bit of excitement. She heard it was like a giant party. To be honest, her only semblance of a party would be that of spending time with the Shepherds in the mess hall. Eating, drinking, and laughing. Would there be any of that? She hoped so.

        “I heard they’re going to have a lot of good foods and such, so I’m saving my money as we speak!”

Green eyes would watch as the war monk struggled with braiding his hair, and though it was a tad amusing, he didn’t want to see the other struggle all day. While his hair wasn’t long enough to do much of anything with, the opposite was true for Libra. His hair was just so long, it wasn’t hard to imagine all the trouble he had with it on a day to day basis.

CLAWS: QUINN VS ZEPHYR

"Two more manaketes! This division does seem to be popular amongst the dragon folk. 

“It makes sense to me. I’ve never really seen Nowi or Tiki being that interested in weapons outside of their dragonstones... Speaking of which, isn’t Zephyr related to Tiki? I’m looking forward to seeing if any of her strength was inherited.”

Quinn Strike 1: 4 ATT / 4 DEF Zephyr Strike 1: 6 ATT / 8 DEF

The first strike is met claw for claw. Quinn and Zephyr both strike and growl and back up, gaining some distance before they strike again. Zephyr makes a swing of their tail, trying to trip Queen, but are unsuccessful. 

Quinn Strike 2: 13 ATT (Trick-or-Treat ELM bonus) / 12 DEF Zephyr Strike 2: 15 ATT / 3 DEF

Quinn leaps and strikes, getting a scratch across Zephyr’s shoulder. In retaliation, Zephyr grabs onto Quinn’s leg and pulls, sending Zephyr onto their back for a moment.

Quinn Strike 3: 16 ATT / 12 DEF Zephyr Strike 3: 18 ATT (OAK bonus) / 2 DEF      Quinn nearly reverts to human form, but is saved by their FAVOR bonus.

Quinn, on their back, manages to leverage their legs underneath Zephyr and push up, flipping Zephyr off and gaining a point. As Quinn rolls up, though, Zephyr meets them with a powerful strike to the side, knocking the wind from Quinn. For a moment, Quinn wavers as if they will revert back into their human form, but they gulp it make and stay strong.

Quinn Strike 4: 6 ATT / 19 DEF Zephyr Strike 4: 2 ATT / 8 DEF

Quinn is still winded from the last hit, and when they strike out they miss. Luckily, Zephyr seems to be off aim as well, and they swing their tail too wide, missing Quinn entirely.

Quinn Strike 5: 9 ATT / 5 DEF Zephyr Strike 5: 6 ATT / 16 DEF

Quinn knows the match is almost over and lunges forward with a roar. They grab onto Zephyr and roll, pinning Zephyr to the ground for a moment. Zephyr struggles to get out of the hold, missing their next strike. The bell rings and the audience cheers for their new victor.

QUINN: 3 ZEPHYR: 2

“Quite a match! Two manaketes entered, and only one carries on to the quarter-finals tomorrow. Congratulations to Quinn!”

“That was a close call, and it’s a good thing Quinn was paying attention to the time... Who knows if the result might have changed if they’d gone into sudden death. Don’t worry Zephyr, you still put on an amazing fight.”

         THE MOON WAS high and the two of them are enjoying a view from Zofia Palace’s balcony. A great big ball was currently going on inside to celebrate the end of the war as well as Alm’s coronation, and although Kliff had tried to tough it out and remain indoors with the other guys, there was only so much of that environment he could take. 

Funny, how he took not even a sip of alcohol but it was as if he had come up out here to sober up. Could one feel drunk off of a party? He doubts it, though he definitely felt like he needed an escape. He just didn’t think Faye would be up there too.

He figures she’d either want to spend time with the other guys from Ram now that they’re all together again or maybe she would have liked to spend time enjoying the festivities with the other members of Celica’s party. After all, they had all been through so much in the past year, it only made sense she might want to at least see the priestess they had traveled with.

But here she was up here standing beside him, and neither were really speaking of anything substantial. He kind of wishes he had a drink now in hand to preoccupy himself, but the only thing he could occupy himself was either her or thoughts of her.

Astonishing choices, really. A hard decision to make if he were honest. He’s not quite sure where the two stand right now. Were they childhood friends? Yes, that was an easy question to answer. Was she something more than that to him? 

He didn’t quite know. 

What he DOES know is that she looks gorgeous and not because he did her makeup tonight and he was just tooting his own horn. His brush and cosmetics only accented her natural beauty. Highlighted by moonlight, she was an ethereal sight.

Perhaps that otherworldly quality was what what propelled him to cup her face, and even as she whispered her name ( was that in a questioning tone or encouraging him? ) he felt as if he stood there exactly like that and staring at her in the night for what must’ve been forever.

But forever ends, and he leans in to meet her lips. However, that is foiled when his nose bumps against hers. The invisible force drawing them together sets them apart before they can even take advantage of the sudden romantic mood, and the both of them rub at the place they had crashed into one another.

“ Guess I should have tilted my head first, ” Kliff dryly comments.

Faye doesn’t quite find her voice at first but soon giggles. “ Yeah. What a goofy slip-up, huh ? ”

His fingers find themselves at her face again, this time tucked under her chin and he gazes into her eyes, that friendly mood extinguished. “ I won’t mess up this time. ”

With that, their two shadows melt together. He’s not quite sure if they fall under the proper label of ‘lovers,’ but this feels right enough that he doesn’t wish to stop anytime soon.
