I was looking forward to drawing him, I wanted him to be glorious and powerful and absolutely glowing, and his glorious hair was the main concrete thing I knew I wanted!

Day 204: Working on some more solarpunk inspired art. I've come to enjoy a lot of the pastels employed in this aesthetic, as I've not really explored working in pastels in my previous work.

Day 202: For the last couple of months, I’ve been thinking about how tired I’ve become of the post-apocalyptic/dystopian/future zombie hellscape genres that’ve been slowly beaten to death since like, 2004.

I mean, these narratives are fine, they’ve just become stale for me, especially in wake of the recent political climate at home and abroad, they tend to hit a little too close to home.

I’ve been trying to envision a world in which humanity makes it though to the other side, because I feel like humanity, now more than ever, needs a new Star Trek-esque narrative to aspire to.

And then I came across Solar Punk, and I was like, “This shit is my jam.”

Day 205: Today's piece is inspired by an article I recently read about how scientists have started to engineer flowers to conduct electricity by having them absorb special polymers. Perhaps in the future we can all rock incandescent flowers and power the world with our gardens.

Day 203: I know I choose this kind of pose a lot, the whole, “woman looking down at you” face, but that’s mainly for two reasons.

One, this pose is a lot of fun to draw, and two, often times portraits of women feature the vantage point from above them, with the subject looking up, which implies that the viewer is dominant.

However, most male portraits or figures are drawn the the vantage point from below, implying that the character in question has power.

I just wanted to switch that tradition up a bit.
