Celestial Laws
Kittens must be kept safe regardless of origin.
Prey is killed only to be eaten.
No Clan cat may kill another, except in self defense.
A cat’s loyalty is to the Light Above and the Clans before all else.
Only cats who have trained at least one apprentice may be chosen as deputy.
After an Oracle’s death, it is their deputy who succeeds them.
No cat may hunt or walk in another Clan’s territory without permission.
The weak are fed before the strong.
Kittens may not become apprentices before they are six moons old.
Murder of an Oracle, healer, or kitten is punishable by death.
The Clans must work in tandem where possible to survive.
Desecration of an altar is punishable by exile or death.
Ground Rules
This section of rules is more social expectations and traditions than hard laws (hence the name). Breaking them isn’t illegal and won’t result in punishment, but may result in social repercussions.
Oracles shouldn’t choose a close family member, former apprentice, or former mentor as one of their first few deputies if there are other options.
Healers shouldn’t have kittens unless there’s another fully trained healer within the Clan.
Half-Clan kittens must remain with their mother’s Clan until at least their apprenticeship.
For a cat to be eligible for the deputy position, at least one apprentice they’ve trained should have earned their Soulgift.
Starlight Gatherings may be called by any Oracle at any point. These gatherings are a way to share important news (ex: Oracle succession, major illnesses, large predators), and as such must be entirely peaceful.
Any big news not important enough for a Starlight Gathering (ex: births, deaths, small predators) is expected to be shared across borders upon the meeting of patrols.
