Chapter 6: A Waltz in Time and Mind
You see a proud shadow box, as tall and wide as a room, sat behind uncaring glass, and pinned with iron spikes are two pairs of wings, one yellow, one blue.
Air punches back into your lungs as you are pulled out of the vision with a shout. Your forehead collides with something hard and you hear a sharp yelp before your sight returns to you. Before you Sun curls forward in a mirror of your vision and your blood runs cold for a moment. Sun grumbles to himself, clutching his forehead. Your own smarts, but you are still far too full of adrenaline to feel pain. You blink blankly at your surroundings, you are safely in your room. Your trunk is still a mess from Sun’s rooting around through your things last night. Your quilted bedcovers rumpled with the movement of three occupants; the sheets below currently twisted in an uncomfortable, squeezing trap around your legs and hips, you attempt to dislodge yourself with only minimal success. At the foot of your bed the curtains are a gauzy white with the light of morning, the glare hurt your eyes. You dully note that Moon is absent. Sun recovers from his bump and looks to you in alarm.
“Dearest, what on earth was that?” he exclaimed.
