Can we get one of the boys and their individual feelings, interactions and opinions on Sun-ji and how it feels for them to have a mother again?
(lengthy if you can please 🥺)
We'll start with Ty-soo.
He hasn't had anybody even remotely maternal around him since his mother passed on July 12th (so he prefers to sleep this day away), 1998. He was heartbroken, closed off, and just...going through a lot of pain.
He was killed on August 19th, 2000 (another day he chose to sleep away). It has been close to 45/46 years since he had a mother figure in his life. It hurts waking up every single day with her (both his parents, really) just...not being there. As strict and bossy as she was, she had a soft side she only reserved for her husband and son.
One of his favorite things to do with her was play chess, gossip over tea, shop, and listen to her read out loud as he slept nearby. He knew/knows the last part is childish, but he only ever wanted her to do it when his nerves were frazzled, and he just wanted to nap/sleep.
So, he's slowly repeating those habits with Sun-ji. He likes to simply talk with her (if she's open to gossip, they'll talk for hours), play chess under the sun, and he'll listen to her read out loud. In those situations, he'll either listen or fall asleep.
Baby...oh boy. He misses his mama every day, like the others. She's the one who passed down that Chaos gene in him. She and Baby were giving that man grey hair lol.
Miyoma was the kind of woman to talk back to a man and punch him if he didn't get the memo. She was as fierce as she was loving. Crazy as she was artistic.
If Yongo left for whatever reason and came back, half of the house would be painted a new color and perhaps even with mismatched patterns. The home was colorful because of her.
She wasn't the primary source of his learning how to bake. Yongo taught him as well. But Yongo taught his lessons calmly; Miyoma taught chaotically.
Everything was a joke, everything was fun, and most of the time, the lesson always ended up in a flour fight.
So, he likes to invite her into the kitchen so they can have baking time. He tries to be mature and not always have the session end up in a flour fight. Sometimes that's achieved; sometimes it isn't.
I think Sun-ji would love his baking raves. Well, what's her music taste?
And he would definitely include her in his pranks and any other types of mischief. If there are times when she shows a little attitude, she would remind him of Miyoma in those moments.
Romance
This man didn't have a mother. He had a woman who birthed him. The only time he had her love was when he was too young to develop a personality, actual opinions, and the ability to say no. After he turned about seven, he stopped being her favorite accessory.
His emotions were too much. Too explosive. Unpredictable (leaving out the fact that she treated him horribly- like a literal toy). So, they tried to make a new "Golden child" with Na-ri, but to their dismay, she ended up sick.
(His father...was only around to call out his faults but never praise him unless in front of others.)
He already had a very jaded view of having parental figures in his life. Perhaps a little jealousy as well. Whenever he would hear how great his mates' mothers (parents in general) were, that little green imp would ever so slightly poke at his heart.
To say he didn't know what to do exactly when Sun-ji came around is an understatement. He had/has nothing against her; it's just that the last mother figure he had didn't really make him all that open to having one.
Still, he's nothing if not polite and friendly. So, he started doing what the others were doing. Talking about the day, asking about Sun-ji's personal life, her favorite things, etc.
He's still trying to keep a distance but also wants to get to know her. It's a mental battle.
Mystery
His eomma wasn't the talkative type, something he clearly inherited from her, so she showed her love with actions. Her gentleness.
She taught Mystery and his brother how to sew, how to cook, and how to find joy in the little things. She was also the one to teach him other physical crafts.
Despite her not being good with words, she always knew what to say at the right time. In the best way she could say it. And she made up for it with physical affection too. Not to mention, she'd sing to him to get him to sleep. It was her favorite thing to do to soothe her family. She had a beautiful voice.
When he thinks back on it, it doesn't hurt as much as it used to.
So, he simply likes crocheting stuff for Sun-ji to wear, meditating with her, and singing. He appreciates the quiet times he spends with her, just like he did with his last eomma.
Abby
His eomma was the kindest person out there. He loved talking with her about any and everything. When she could move, he liked watching her cook and listening to the steps (father forcing her to cook was always acknowledged, but he tried to look past it to enjoy the moment).
He liked making flower crowns for her whenever he could. Yeah, if his father caught him doing it, there would be hell to pay, but Abby didn't care.
So, the main things he likes doing with Sun-ji are talking, making food for her, and making flower crowns too.
Jinu
We already know his deal; he hasn't had a mom for a WHILE. It's safe to say he leapt at the idea. There are times when he hugs her for long moments. Fighting to not cry while doing so because he hasn't had "mama energy" around him for a long time.
He has broken down in front of her once. However, he was so embarrassed and going through too many emotions that he couldn't stay.
He's trying his best.
