hot take: at this point harlan guthrie is just using emotional sad scenes to cover up how horrendous his writing has gotten

even if I hypothetically recognize that a piece of media is garbage, if it was able to elicit a strong emotional response from me especially a sad one, im going to love it and remember it. hg is using that logic to the fucking max. when I heard all the patrons going “I cried so many times it’s so sad !1!1!!1” I was expecting something good, something well written while still being emotional and having some good character development/depth insight. and we got. that.

just because something elicits a strong emotional response doesn’t mean it’s good

I can’t decide if in this clip Cal is lying to Andre or if he’s being genuine? His hesitation and the way he said it makes me think both could be true but I’m not sure
