suna doesn’t think you’re a bad cook. do you burn food sometimes? yeah. do the dishes look ugly? sure. is the food too salty at times? of course. for other people, you should never take another step in the kitchen. for suna, he’s willing to eat whatever you make. that doesn’t mean he’ll lie to you and say the food is good when it isn’t. one, because he wants to live and two, he wants you to improve. he knows that cooking isn’t easy and it takes a lot of time and energy to prepare a dish. not to mention you both hate washing dishes after.
he enjoys seeing you try to step out of your comfort zone. you have a lot of anxiety over trying new things, cooking especially; you’re afraid of making a mistake and having to throw food away as a result. it just physically pains you to waste food, but suna reassures you that one mistake won’t make it inedible. unfortunately, he was proven wrong. one time you tried to make penne alla vodka and the sauce was too salty and diluted. but, rather than make fun of you, suna brings you to his chest, softly petting your hair, and starts comforting you.
“you only made two mistakes that are easy to fix. don’t give up. i know you’ll nail it next time”
you’re surprised he didn’t burst out laughing at your sad attempt at cooking, but he knows when to tease you, this isn’t one of those times. not when he knows how insecure you feel when it comes to something like this.
one day, you grilled some samgyeopsal and are really satisfied with how it turned out. you took a bite of the juicy, flavorful meat and everything in your body lit up. you called suna over and grabbed a piece with chopsticks to feed him.
“it’s really good this time!” you beamed.
there are no words to express how happy suna feels when you successfully make a dish. there’s just something about the smile on your face and the way you’re so eager to feed him what you just made. moments like these are why he doesn’t give up on you. he sees your potential and does everything he can to cultivate it because your happiness is his happiness.
“it tastes amazing, sweetheart. you’re a great cook.” he says with a big, stupid grin on his face.
you don’t really believe that last part he said, but with him by your side, maybe you can be a good cook...
