@sunagirl, @thenightling Ok, lets look at this rationally shall we?
Avengers: Endgame had a reported budget of $356 million.
This is not the first time they make a film this big. It has in fact been 20+ films since they started making these films.
The two writers mentioned are 45+ years old. They’ve been in the industry for a.while. They should know that when you make a film, you’ll need to be able to face potential criticism and that’s fine. That’s how art works.
Being a filmmaker myself, I can’t help but feel that they have reacted in a very juvenile way to some pretty valid criticism not just by fans, but by credible sources like the Guardian, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, Forbes and about 20+ more media outlets.
Not to mention that when you spend THAT much money and human resources, you have a responsibility to deliver a certain level of quality. Not to mention your audience is enormous so the messages you promote will impact millions and millions of lives.
Given the stakes. Given the budget. Given the level of this project, having full ass grown adults trying to shift the blame to each other like school children is fucking ridiculous.
They want us to believe they have this huge plan for everything in the MCU, but it’s not even the first time they’ve butchered a female character and they never apologise.
I don’t just blame the writers.
I blame the writers. I blame the producers. I blame the directors. I blame all of those involved with developing the film. I think that as creators, they have a responsibility to their audience as much as the rest of us, artists who can’t hide behind the Marvel logo.
In case you were wondering why people are so mad, well that’s why.
Thank you for actually making a conversation out of it, and not calling me a crazy feminist like the Marvel people usually do.
