So you know how in transformers prime Wheeljack calls Ratchet sunshine and Ratchet gets annoyed about it??

Wouldn't it be cool and totally mad funny if they (Sunchaser and Ratchet) had to separate some time before the events of transformers prime and they haven't physically seen eachother in ages, and prior to them seperating that was what Sunchaser called Ratchet?

Sunchaser's Prosthetics:

Even though the prosthetics are both of their legs post Accident, the prosthetics technically extend to their hips because of the fact that the place where the leg joins with the torso had to be restructured in order for the new prosthetics to fit and actually work

Transformers headcannon!!!!

Mechs that constantly use visors (Jazz, Soundwave etc) are actually clumsy as hell when they aren't using their visors because their optics have adjusted to seeing the world through said visors.

This means that initially (a VERY long initially) after removing their visor the mech needs a companion to stay close to them and make sure they don't hurt themselves or anyone around them.

This manifests as the mech in question walking around like a sailor, or like that one gif of that guy stumbling drunk down those stairs (pssst it's also like this, but moreso they can't see well and the suddenness of Not Being Able To See is really disorientating, especially for active duty mechs who aren't around anyone they're particularly close with).

Immediately off the back of my post abt Sunchaser, here r some plot points for how The Accident happened!

patrolling an old city to get rid of any explosives/traps from the war after it ended(where the patrol is, # of mechs and who the mechs are tbd)

they get into an argument and decide to turn back because nothing has been found so far, they need to refuel and they're getting pissy with each other because they've all been in forced close company for a while

on the way back they find a settlement to rest in and split up to patrol the area n make sure it's safe

Sunchaser happens upon an old habstitute that's in good-ish condition, opens the door and pulls a tripwire, triggering an explosion that makes the wall fall on their legs

Patrol calls for a medevac, Sunchaser goes into shock and falls unconscious just as the medevac gets there

wakes up after medics have amputated their legs, panicked about it

after stressing out for an undisclosed amount of time, Ratchet comes in and consoles them, explains that he can't work on the case because of their familial bond

time skip to just before an operation to remove the rest of Sunchaser's thighs, leaving only the hip joint left. Medics explain that this is so specially designed prosthetics that will look very similar to their old legs can be attached

BOOM, time skip again >:3€. after the surgery Ratchet is able to help them with physio and getting used to their new legs, Sunchaser manages to walk to a mirror to see what they look like and has a breakdown because they look same but different (new legs r slightly more squished, making their arms and torso look disproportionate their legs)

finishes their physio, uses a cane for a while and refuses to look in any mirrors/shiny surfaces

has a slightly different gait as a result and has to get a new alt-mode (where the RNZAF NH90 comes in)

because they are medically grounded, their other issues get looked at and some workaround solutions are found (fluffiness ensues between Ratchet and Sunchaser)

Eventually gets cleared for missions/assignments again, but less risky ones at that. Is not happy at all

Imagine getting interested in transformers again and reading the IDW comics and re watching TFP and some of the bayverse movies and seeing alot of TFO content then deciding to make an OC couldn't be me lol /sar.

Anyways this is Sunchaser!!! (with n without visor)

^this is sorta a concept idea I made through the mechanoid maker picrew designed by @chownkiies!!! , I still need to finish drawing my actual design for Sunchaser lol

Sunchaser works in intel with the autobots and specialises in tracking. They also have sub-specialities (i think that's what it's called?) in trapping and explosives (I mean, if you know how to construct the bomb you should in theory know how to find and dismantle other bombs) and that totally isn't foreshadowing into how they lost both their legs, got replacements and damaged their hearing over a long-ish period of time hahaha lmao.

Anyways, Sunchaser has an ornithopter altmode because orniothpoters are cool and I can use more sci-fi bullshit™. They are conjunxed to Ratchet and they may have a sparkling named Cloudjumper if I can be bothered to draw them and flesh their design n personality n stuff out.

bit of backstory: They originally trained as a medic before realising that a), they didn't want to get a different paintjob and b), they weren't that into it in the first place. They've also been listed as a decepticon sympathizer due to the fact that they've stated that bots and cons really are just two sides of the same coin, as well as the fact that they joined the autobots because they saw that as the better long term choice. Unfortunately, this has caused them to be demoted at least once and put in the brig A Fair Amount of times. And not only do they eventually get double replacement legs that are like, same but different that make their body shape slightly messed up (arms appear too long), they've also partially deaf! to get around this they'll speak in comm channels to one or more specific bots if the environment they're in is too loud. Notes:

Personality:

Slightly vain, stubborn, tired (maybe depressed? idrk atp), cunning, (silently) caring, unhinged (similar mental state to other toku jonin and jonin in naruto fics and cannon) 

Issues:

body dysmorphia, bad hearing and eyesight, bad joints (hips r fucked post Accident™ from replacement legs and damage to the joint that couldn’t be fixed at the time) and altered feeling in the legs, since the prosthetic legs don't have the same in universe chakra system (they find a Suna puppeteer who alters/replaces the legs for a very expensive fee, autobot medics find out and aren’t happy that happened without medical permission)

Body notes:

- Legs kinda harpy shaped (see image below)

-antennae on their head are mods they installed for the purposes of tracking/monitoring others. They work like sonar on military planes/helicopters by linking to the visor’s HUD and showing (from one of the corners) where things are (can be refined to search for unique signatures of up to 3 normal sized Cybertronians, but if one or two mechs r bigger Sunchaser will have a harder time tracking all three) like the image below but more orange and see through

-visor is retractable and can have different filters/lenses for tracking purposes (e.g. infrared, thermal, night vision etc). HOWEVER, their vision's kinda fucked because they wear their visor for long periods of time n don't take it off, needing a longer time to adjust to not wearing a visor and seeing the world normally

-kinda designed them with owls and yellow macaws in mind, colouring scheme and personality wise.
