You had heard the white and speckled cats yesterday. Apparently your brother had ventured outside. How very exciting! You turn to look up at your mother, her big body and warm fur kept you safe...especially from your sister. If you went outside who knows what might happen to you. The fur along your back bristled at the thought.
...B-But you wanted to be brave. Just like mother was in all her stories.
With a gulp, you get to your shaky paws and step over your mothers large tail. Your sister squirms and kicks as you pass her. But her eyes are still shut...she can’t come with you.
The trip across the den takes longer then you would imagine and by the time you reach the opening your tired and even more scared then when you started out. With a deep breath you poke your head out and, for the first time in your short life, see the outside world.
It’s terrifying.
