No warnings were required, not for something already studied. Be it habit or compulsion, he had managed, over the course of the last week or two, to avoid providing Djahima with a straight answer. Something definitive that would discourage any abrupt attempt to grab hold of his jaw, gaze upon the same dentition that had been previously glimpsed at as well as felt.
Unfortunately, nothing that he had tried seemed to work. They simply were, for better or worse, unaffected by his exposed fangs, silencing the instinctive recoil that most people couldn't suppress if caught in the same predicament, even in passing.
"Djahima." The name's dragged out of him with a degree of reluctance, trying to buy a second of peace. "You know they're not for show, right?" A somewhat rhetorical question in hindsight, but saying it aloud helped to ground him somewhat. with his tone kept low for the same reason. Not sharp, but still measured in the way one explains to a friend that playing in traffic is, in fact, a bad idea. "And I don't mean I can give you a little nick if you’re curious. I mean—"
All of a sudden, he broke off, silenced by a flare up that made both fang and regular dentition ache in unison. In lieu of speaking, he found room to think, realising quickly how stupid he was to think that he could keep them at a distance when like this. A foe turned staunch ally, that had already stared down far worse in his company. But something, be it a mild species of concern, saw Miguel act in the manner of a man trying to isolate himself.
"They're not safe." A sprawl of hand indicates pearly white points, before curving in an arc that highlighted two marks, spread slightly apart, from where he'd grazed their leg, no more than ten minutes prior. "I’m not safe. Not in his condition. Do you understand that?"
