[25 Character Questions for the Writer]
Heskan
Is there something your character deeply regrets from their past?
Heskan joined the Jedi Order at a very young age, as is custom for force-sensitive Mirialan children. You'd think this would make him a model Jedi, and by all outside appearances, he is just that. But deep inside his heart, there's a tiny seed of doubt, of pained regret, of yearning for the choice he was never given.
Who had the most negative impact on your character’s life?
I… don't actually know the answer to this one. Most of Heskan's problems don't stem from individuals so much as his own internal struggles. (at least currently, still progressing the class story for him)
Does your character have trust issues?
No, not really, he's reasonably trusting of others. In the same line of thought, I think he does believe, perhaps a bit naively, that there's some good in everyone. But if someone chooses to behave otherwise, he has no qualms with bringing them to justice.
Rul
What is your character’s fondest memory?
Fond is an odd word for it, but a memory Rul relishes is the day his force lightning first manifested, which lead to his eventual transferal to the Sith Academy. The overseer of the slave encampment did not live to regret the many, many beatings he doled. He only wishes he could have made it more painful.
Who had the most positive impact on your character’s life?
Believe it or not, Khem Val. A monstrously strong creature swearing fealty to him was his first taste of power, and to someone who had been utterly powerless for their entire prior life, that was a pivotal moment. Khem has long been his most valued ally, and the only one whose loyalty he has truly aspired to earn and deserve.
Does your character have any significant others?
Rul is probably not the sort to romance anyone in a traditional sense. I do have unsorted Feelings about his bond with Khem and how it crosses into something more, though. Something something, two stars in orbit, feeding off one another, self-destructive cycles, homoerotic power struggles, etc etc. I'd wax poetic but it's probably too horny (for this post).
Sunhase
What makes your character’s skin crawl?
Spiders. It's the legs. But in seriousness, she's extremely unnerved by killiks, especially regarding their hivemind, and prefers to keep far away from any of that business.
Who would your character consider as part of their family?
Mm, I haven't worked out the specifics yet, but she does have a sort of… familial vibe with Tavus. The timeline is a little fuzzy, but I've been rolling with the idea that she was rescued from a warzone as a child by Tavus's squad, and he kind of took her in and kept watch over her as she grew up. She definitely views him as a father figure. Which, of course, makes his defection all the more painful for her.
What is your character most afraid of?
Sunhase is afraid of losing her ideals. She's realizing more and more that the Republic isn't as noble as she'd believed, and that difficult decisions have to be made when it comes to war. She's been very defiant of Garza's type of approach, but there's a growing, gnawing fear that one day she's going to be forced to make a choice that she just can't live with.
