Salman Khan has known the Lullas, with whom he is associating on Jai Ho, for over a decade. "Initially, they would pick up the overseas distribution rights of my films," he recalls.
He adds, "My career hit many highs and lows at that stage. My films weren't exactly superhits in the overseas market. Things changed for the better with Wanted, Dabangg, Ready,Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2. And now, they have tied up with Sohail (Khan) and me."
The superstar candidly admits that things weren't always hunky-dory between the Lullas and him. Says he, "Kishore, Vijay Galani and I came together for Veer, but that wasn't a good association because of certain irregularities. I brought it up with Kishore, who gave me the real picture just before we signed this deal. I'm upset with Vijay, who is a friend and whom I will still greet nicely. But, I had to take Vijay to court because he didn't give me my due. Anyway, the important thing is, all is well between the Lullas and me now. We have wiped the slate clean and have joined hands for Jai Ho on a good note. More importantly, all of us are working towards a common goal. We will jointly do our bit for charity."
As part of the film's promotions, Eros and Being Human have committed to sponsor heart surgeries of 100 children in each state that Salman travels to, for promotions. It is being done in association with a certain hospital chain.
Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International, says, "We have been with Salman on most of his projects and are happy to extend this relationship with Sohail and him for Jai Ho. This time, we've attempted to reach out to the common man, keeping with the theme of the film. Eros is committed to donating funds from the film's promotions towards charities."
Jai Ho, produced by Eros International and Sohail Khan Productionz, releases January 24.
