Wicca is a shit
You know, I never understood this shit. And I know so many witches who started in witchcraft through wicca. Thank fuck I escaped that perfumed trap. I started normal. I started in sweat, in silence, in the stench of wet earth after a storm that ripped out telephone poles. I started tasting iron in my mouth without having bitten anything.
Wicca is extremely romanticized. Overseas, in the US and Europe, it's a monster of an audience. An empire of pink candles and incense. And I ask myself: does no one see the structural stupidity of being Wiccan? — "Oh, but you're being religiously intolerant". I don't give a fuck.
Witchcraft was never about religion. Witchcraft is philosophy. Witchcraft is the pure, brutal, irreducible state of nature in its primordial form, the one that devours its young, that rots fruit on the branch, that makes the river rise and take houses without asking permission.
Wicca is the religion of false witches. Spoiled little brats. Elitists. People who are afraid of dirt, afraid of darkness, afraid of their own navel when it starts to smell like rot. Wicca is a religion created by a white man, gerald gardner, an English gentleman in a suit and tie who decided to wrap the shadow in bubble wrap and sell it as spiritual self-help. He took a philosophy that was always wild, instinctive, deeply feminine and marginal and turned it into a New Age system for good little girls who ask the moon for permission.
Worse: he smuggled in parts of christianity. Threefold law. "An it harm none, do what ye will". "What you send out comes back three times". Fuck, that's Calvin in a flowy skirt and a gilded athame. That's not witchcraft. That's Christianity with a lavender spritz.
Witchcraft isn't that cute little movie thing with a sepia filter and cheap empowerment dialogue. Witchcraft belongs to the outcasts. Witchcraft isn't for rich people who can't handle a single day with that energy inside their heads, because that energy gnaws on your teeth, clings to your nightmares, speaks in languages they didn't teach you in college.
Witchcraft is dark because nature is dark. Nature is intense. Nature is pain. Nature is blood giving birth, it's a carcass rotting, it's fungus growing inside the eye of a dead deer. And all of it is sacred, not despite the rot, but because of it.
Wicca is the opposite. Wicca taints everything with talk of light, of evolution, of peace. Wicca takes the abyss and puts a crocheted curtain in front of it. And calls it a temple.
I don't want a temple. I want the open sewer. I want to shove my hand into the sludge, feel the worms squirming between my fingers, and discover that there, in that wet, pulsing filth, there is also divinity.
Witchcraft doesn't need your purity. It needs your courage to stink.

In honor of Drishyam 3 coming out (u know Ajay Devgn was waiting for this like Jaya Bachchan waiting for SRK in K3G), I decided I was gonna share my opinion about the 1st 2 parts. My apologies to the Malayalam cinema purists, but I have only watched the Hindi version of both, mostly cuz of Akshaye Khanna.
Disclaimer: This will have spoilers. T.W.: Murder, and um I guess recording some1 w/o permission.
Gods, I love lists. Anyway, Drishyam is rather of it's times in terms of the dialogue and the performances being slightly stunted. Drishyam 2 fares slightly better in this context, cuz, u know, it's more recent.
I like the integration of Vijay's love for films in the whole ploy. I like that he uses what he has garnered from films to his advantage. I also like the whole concept of what is in front of the eyes and stuff.
One thing I like about the 1st part more than the 2nd was the fact that things are slowly revealed to u over a period of time, whereas in the 2nd part, most of the reveal is left entirely for the end and I hate when that happens in books or movies. I like facts to be slowly revealed where u actually think u might know what's going on, only to be proven wrong; bonus points if info has been right under our noses all along and we haven't been able to see it. To be fair though, this is more of mystery thing, when Drishyam, I would argue is more of a thriller.
I hate that Vijay's plans r always flawless. Like he's so intelligent, he never makes a mistake and is always ahead of everyone and it's supremely annoying, u know why, cuz u just stop perceiving anything as a threat, which drastically brings down the stakes.
I absolutely abhor the portrayal of women in both the parts. The only scene where any 1 of them is being a badass is when Anju accidentally kills that boy; not saying that she should've killed him, just saying that she is pretty physically strong. Other than that, Vijay is always making fun of his wife's intellect which is really annoying. The women are constantly scared and doing that, "Oh my God, what r we going to do?" thing, which, srsly? Since childhood, each one of us is constantly told, when in crisis, try to approach a woman. Why? Cuz women r in general better at dealing with crisis. I live in a similar family structure as the Salgaonkars (2 daughters, a mom and a dad) and if 1 of us committed a murder, my dad would most definitely not be in-charge ( he has terrible memory). It'd probably be my sister, cuz she's a sociopath. Like it's the wife that makes the mistake in the 2nd part and it's so infuriating to watch. All the women, hysterical and scared while the man is the sole calm voice of reason, such bull crap.
Shriya Saran needs to tell me what fountain of eternal youth she frequents cuz she hasn't aged a single day for as long as I've seen her.
Tarun Ahlawat is supremely sexy, very intimidating, but his character was not really required. Like I get it, they needed some1 to replace Meera cuz she can't call the shots anymore, but I genuinely don't get what makes Tarun sooo invested that he agrees to this very convoluted and highly illegal, might I add, ploy. Like ya they're friends but I dunno, doesn't seem like motivation enough. Also, it’s so weird that he goes to the Salgaonkars’ house, steals Shriya’s tea and then goes to pee as an intimidation tactic. Like be honest Tarun, u just needed to pee and this was the closest place, right?
I can't believe that they hired undercover cops to pretend to be a couple, move in next to the Salgaonkars, install spyware in their house and pretend to be in a very abusive relationship. Like, I feel like everyone involved could be doing smth better with their time.
I might be speaking frm a place of privilege, but I feel like the questioning in both the parts is way out of hand. Like in the 2nd part, Anju is literally having a seizure during the questioning, and they STILL WON'T STOP?! Like, do u want a dead body on ur hands?
I'm really wondering what is gonna be the conflict in the 3rd part cuz the 2nd part had a pretty airtight end. Other than that, weirdly enough, both parts have some pretty gr8 scenic scenes. I mean, I guess that's just Goa.
Okay, imma go and fantasize bout Tarun Ahlawat now.
