REMINDER FOR SUNNAH FASTING!
Tomorrow is Monday. Please, endeavour to fast and remind others. Fasting twice a week (i.e Monday and Thursday) helps keep our faith strong and our desires under control. It also keeps us more conscious of Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala). This is the formula for success given to us by our beloved prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
✔️'Ā'ishah (R.A.) said, "The Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) used to take care to fast on Mondays and Thursdays." (at-Tirmidhi)
➖The Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said, "Deeds of people are presented (to Allāh) on Mondays and Thursdays. So I like that my actions be presented while I am fasting." (Tirmidhi)
➖"The prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) was keen to fast every Monday and Thursday." (Tirmidhi)
➖The prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said, "He who loves my Sunnah has loved me, and he who loves me will be with me in Paradise." (at-Tirmidhi)
✔️Fasting is only 1% of not eating and drinking, the rest of the 99% is bringing your heart and soul close to Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala).
➖Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala) says: "Every good deed of the son of Ādam is for him except FASTING, for it is for me and I will reward it." (Bukhari and Muslim)
HEALTH BENEFITS OF FASTING
➖It gives the digestive system a rest.
➖It can help you beat addiction.
➖It is a great way to start a healthy diet.
➖It nomalizes insulin sensitivity.
➖It can reduce your hunger levels.
➖It promotes the detoxification process.
➖It whitens the eyes and clears the complexion.
➖It can reduce high blood pressure.
➖It can boost the immune system.
May Allāh make it easy for us and accept it as an act of Ibadah (worship).
I'm gonna try to make it a new habit of fasting on Mondays or Thursdays, both if possible, I think it'll be good for my health and since the days are getting shorter it'll inshaAllah be easy to do.
I think the health benefits go beyond just the immediate effects of denying yourself food - psychologically holding back also means that you can hold back more easily when not fasting. Also apparently it helps with Human Growth Hormone release http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC329619/ but the main reasons I'm doing it is to help me better my self control, health and ofc the Sunnah.
