Sun burst through the door, panting heavily. "Mrs. Mary! I heard I won! I came as quickly as I could! I hope I'm not too late!" He looked around the room at all of the Pokémon, mind racing, trying to figure out which one he would pick. His eyes settled on a deep green quadruped Pokémon with an orange leaf sticking out of its head. "Oh! Mrs. Mary! Is that a Chikorita! Can I have it please! It looks so cool and Rotom and I would love to get some data on its growth back in Alola!"
There was a thud, and the makeshift fabric door to the tent burst wide open. DJ Mary, who at the time had been tending to brushing Meowzie, jumped right out of her skin, letting out a surprised yelp. The Meowth screeched and bolted out the door. “No, Meowzie!” Mary cried, watching her Pokemon go with dismay.
She turned tired eyes to the young man. “Um, hello,” she said, setting down the brush. Chikorita took advantage of her spare hand and bumped her head against Mary’s hand. Mary pet her absently. “Sorry about that. Meowzie’s a handful.” Maybe bringing her along wasn’t such a good idea.
Mary shook her head and smiled twofold at the young man. “Your name’s Sun, right? I’m so glad you’re here.” She lifted up Chikorita, who eagerly made herself comfortable in the DJ’s arms. Her eyes drifted closed, and she fell right asleep. “Chikorita here would be great as a companion. She doesn’t have a lot of experience with battling, though. The nurses may think she has nearsightedness. Please don’t let that scare you, though! Chikorita is a great Pokemon!”
DJ Mary brought Chikorita over to Sun, and gently laid her in his arms. “Please take good care of her for me, okay?” she said, smiling at the boy. “I’m counting on you.”
One sun-loving ‘rita for one loving Sun.
