Idk man I feel like we haven't learned not to witch-hunt people (even if they have done all the things they're accused of). Like there's a gdoc being passed around about Emily Gwen (of lesbian flag fame) which seems immature and very gleeful in going after a queer person.
Like even if it turns all the accusations are 100% true, this is cyberbullying. Like, it doesn't matter if someone "deserves" it it's still cyberbullying. You should think twice before you reblog a callout post because regardless of whether the person did the things or not, cyberbullying them about it is still harassment and won't undo any damage the person has done. It's worrying how many people I'm seeing gleefully going " oh I always knew!" and doubling down in cyberstalking Gwen.
To be clear, I don't know the truth of the situation (no-one does) and it is possible Gwen did do all or some of the things she's accused of. However, that in no way justifies a witch-hunt. I think people need to step back and think before they share the callout gdoc - are you okay with contributing to cyberbullying someone? Is this useful or helpful? How might this impact Gwen if the accusations are false?
Again, not defending her - but from a human standpoint bullying is not a weapon in our arsenal. We do not need it we will not use it. Capiche?
Disclaimer I'm not a lesbian either but this kind of thing tends to ripple out to the whole queer community and I'm concerned.
