Funky Disco Please! for Absolute Bassline

You’ve been told about it already: Absolute Bassline is expanding! I am Zippy, the disco-monkey who’s writing for Funky Disco Please!

When I first heard about this Absolute Bassline collective thing, I thought it was such a great opportunity for me to spread the disco-epidemic a little bit more. It was not expected that they accept to team up with a monkey though, but I managed to convince them using my roller-disco tricks.

Anyway I am now part of the gang, and my part of the job is to deliver you guys a new episode of the Sample Stories series every week! The Sample Stories are short posts featuring two tracks, one that was typically released in the late 70s – early 80s, and another one which was recently released and that sampled the first one. You can have a quick look here to get a better idea.

The Cool Notes - My Love Is Hot // MAM - Sunset Funk

You probably heard that tune last summer when it came out, it was on the B side of MAM’s EP that included the magnificent Crushed Ice, released on Leeds based label FINA Records.

As they mostly do to create their tracks, MAM brilliantly sampled another 80 track in order to create Sunset Funk. 

The track is My Love Is Hot released in 1985 by The Cool Notes which were a pretty cool British pop-disco band.
