CD Spotlight: Juliana's Tokyo vol. 6: This Is The "Real" Juliana's Tokyo

Back in the 90s there was a famous discotheque in Japan. Filled with flashy lights, go-go dancers in bodycon outfits holding feathered fans, and hyper techno & house music. This was......Juliana's Tokyo!

These mixed compilation CDs were released by Avex Trax (the one who created Super Eurobeat & Maharaja Night). This is the 6th set of the Juliana's CD series

This one comes in a slipcase which houses the CD and a separate booklet which, according to discogs, is supposed to be a "guide" to Juliana's with extra thank you notes from team members.

This is the 1st Juliana's Tokyo CD I ever ordered and it was a great introduction to the type of music they had. Well, obviously I had an idea of what they would play, but more song-wise.

Besides hyper techno, this compilation features Italo-house and one final hardcore/gabber track (kinda like how early Dancemania albums had happy hardcore at the end of their tracks)

Honestly, I wish I went there. It seems like a dream to go there. Alas, it closed in 1994. Maybe one day they'll bring it back 🤷‍♂️
