You can use these in any way you like — literally, figuratively, combine them together, use them separately, mix and match, or ignore them altogether if none of them strike your fancy.

Hello, Foundation fandom!

Sunset Over Empire Week is a week-long event encouraging the creation of Foundation fanworks, focusing on the Empire and its fall.

The event will take place here on Tumblr from January 4-10 2027

All types of fanworks are allowed and encouraged - fics, art, meta, posts full of rambling bullet points, mood boards, playlists, you name it! The only rule is...

No AI allowed. The only artificial intelligence allowed in this fandom event is Demerzel (or any other Asimovian robot). All fanworks must be 100% human creations.

We'll be posting a list of prompts in a couple weeks. These are meant to inspire ideas, but they're totally optional. Feel free to use them, ignore them, combine them, or come up with your own!

To submit a work, you can add it to the AO3 Collection or post it on Tumblr with the tag #sunsetoverempireweek - this blog will be reblogging throughout the week.

FAQ

What can I create fanworks about?

Anything in the Foundation universe, really. We have a preference for Empire-focused works (life on Trantor, life in the Imperium off of Trantor, our favorite kidnapped-by-emperor robot, your Cleon(s) of choice and their poor life choices, etc etc etc) but this is a small fandom so that isn't a hard and fast rule. Just keep it in-universe (this isn't the place for a modern coffee-shop AU) and you're golden.

What kind of fanworks can I create?

Anything that your human mind and human body can dream up and create. Fic, art, meta, moodboards, playlists, graphics, gifs, anything you want so long as there is no generative AI involved.

Can I post early/late?

Absolutely. The AO3 collection is open and will remain open. This blog will primarily be reblogging during the scheduled week (Jan 4-10 2027) but we know calendars can be complicated and people have lives outside of fandom so post when you can and we'll reblog when we can!
