🐛🌻🌱Good afternoon, folks!✨🐻🌟

After a tough week, while almost going into a whole meltdown yesterday, I actually have some positive things I wanna list that have happened or I’m thinking of:

- I watched The Secret of Nimh on YouTube (which is available to watch for free and it has subtitles!!). If you haven’t seen it, it’s an animated, fantasy movie about a mother mouse 🐭 who is trying to save her family and friends and move them to a safer place before the farmers run them off the land! It’s a very good, nostalgic movie for me and I highly recommend it to anyone!

- I ordered some new books about some special interests of mine! One was about Appalachian folklore and tall tales, one was about surviving in the woods, and the last one is called Gideon the Ninth and it’s a fantasy novel with a butch main character!!

- I’m working on a cute digital art piece for both of my moms for Mother’s Day AND for their anniversary which is only two days after that 😂

- I finally took time to make an appointment to get new glasses and this time, I can order the round black frames that I’ve wanted for a while!

- I also finally expressed my genuine interest in working with only the plants 🌱 at my job and not wanting to return to doing retail when we open back up. I’ve been having a hard time being direct about things and this was one growing pain I needed to get through.

- I’m thinking of focusing more of my time on going back into illustration and animation, so I will try to make new videos! They’ll just be animated instead because that’s sorta the career path I wanna pursue.

- As much as I love my brand of ‘goth’, I kinda wanna dress more like a lumberjack/farm boy! Like, I’m definitely thinking of ordering a few pairs of denim overalls, hiking/work boots, more flannels, buttoned down shirts that make me look like a picnic table, yet still keeping some room for my darker, ‘edgier’ clothes! My aesthetic goal, in terms of clothing, has now changed to ‘a strange yet friendly farmer 👨‍🌾 with intimate knowledge of ghosts, witches, and the unknown’.

And that’s all I gotta say for today! I may add to this later but for now, I just needed a minute to put things into perspective and think of some positive things going on right now. I don’t like feeling bogged down and I don’t like seein other folks bogged down either.

what's a sunshine goth?

Oh, it’s just a fun tag I made up for my own selfies! I’m very much a lover of the dark and macabre and I absolutely love a lot of ‘goth’ or post punk music that inspired the more trendy aspects of the goth subculture. I’m just also a very hopeful and optimistic person, so I like to combine those two aspects of myself into what I call ‘sunshine goth’.

I also wear a lot of yellow and black these days, so that’s also why I call myself ‘sunshine goth’. 🌻🦇

It feels so liberating to be the ‘short, androgynous goth person who may or may not worship SATAN’ at work sometimes.

It’s so entertaining to see the faces of people who initially think I’m gonna be an asshole, or curse them as soon as they talk to me, suddenly light up with joy and bewilderment as soon as they start getting to know me and realize that I’m just a goth teddy bear lol

The other good thing is that creepy old dudes have stopped calling me gross ass pet names when I started wearing more of my darker clothing, so I’m not getting rid of this aesthetic anytime soon!
