How were sunshine’s teenage years? Why did she enlist?

You can imagine that Sunny's teenage years were rough as fuck. Unlike Birdy, no one died and left them behind- but by God, did they wish that they did.

Sunshine had a simple dream, to be a performance vehicle mechanic and be part of a racing team. They wanted to be a racer, to build their own cars and put them out onto the track to test their limits.

Unfortunately, Sunshine's parents were not the greatest. Physically abusive, drug abusers, the whole Shebang. People assumed that the majority of Sunny's scarring comes from the missions, but that's not the case.

The majority of their scars and raised skin had come from altercations with their parents. Sunshine had never learned to be quiet or avoid confrontation, they were so furious with the state of their life that they just kept going back for more- testing and prodding and waiting for the day that they'd be able to overpower them rather than be overpowered.

When that day came, Sunshine felt vindicated.

They were kicked out of the house but by that point, Sunny had already come up with a plan.

They didn't have enough money to start an apprenticeship as a Mechanic, it cost money to study something like that. So, what job provides free education, housing, meals, and job security?

Sunshine booked it for the army, determined and savage and ready to fucking claw their way out of the pits of their past.

Not a single member of rank scared them because they'd overcome the thing that had haunted them their entire life. No authority could come close to the horrors they'd endured.

Nothing would shake Sunshine because they'd already been through the worst.

That's how they ended up as a mechanic in the army, working on their cars in their spare time and slowly tip toeing towards their dream of racing.

Then they got scouted to be a sniper after they were a fully qualified mechanic, so they took the job change and the pay rise and threw themselves into being the best of the best. There was more to climb, more to achieve, more to become. They'd never be in the shadow of another, never live under the thumb of another.
