Hannah! I wanna ask for your advice! I'm supposed to pack 7 outfits for my trip, and like. I have a few dresses I love but am always scared of wearing because some people in my family tell me I look like a round short vegetable. I have a few nice shirt and jeans combos but they're so safe and I dunno. What should I do?
sara!! i too look like a round short vegetable in dresses! like literally, i refused to wear a floor-length gown for my year 12 formal (senior prom) because, and i quote, “it’ll make my head look like a pimple on a pumpkin”. BUT, and this is a very important but, you love the dresses. if you love them and they make you feel good when you wear them, i say screw what anybody else thinks and rock the hell out of those dresses!
but also, i know the road to not caring what other people think of you is a long one, and it might take a while to get there. so my advice would be this: pack maybe 4 or 5 shirt/jeans combos that are possibly a bit boring, but they’re safe and comfortable. and then pack 2 or 3 dresses that you love and will make you feel pretty. also, if you can, pack just a couple of extra t-shirts. so you have options, you can wear a dress if you want to, but if you have a day where you just can’t ignore other peoples’ judginess you can re-wear some jeans and a new fresh shirt. if that makes sense? and is at all helpful?
also! i would highly recommend rolling instead of folding your clothes! rolling prevents creasing and usually takes up slightly less room, so you can squeeze a few more shirts in! stuff underwear and socks inside your shoes to save some more room! pack a change of clothes in your hand luggage, both incase your baggage gets lost and to sneakily pack another outfit! darker coloured clothes hide stains more easily and you might be able to get away with wearing them more often between washes than lighter coloured clothes!
you’re leaving tomorrow oh my god! i hope you have the most amazing time!!
