it’s not that martina is afraid;  it’s not that.   it’s that they’re cautious and respectful of these kinds of things.   they enjoy amusement parks,  of course they do,  it’s just …  some of the games might be too extreme for them and their sensitive stomach.   they pull through,  though,  as cameron drags them from one game to the next without noticing how martina has gone from pale to green.   they are currently in the queue for the most enormous,  atrocious,  and dangerous rollercoaster of the entire place when martina sighs heavily,  a noise they didn’t mean to make,  but that left them anyway.   “   d-do we have to go in this one ?   ”   they ask in a whine,  one second away from stomping their foot.   “   it’s so …  high and really fucking long,  cam,  what the fuck.   ”   they try to calculate how long the ride would be.   forty seconds ?   fifty ?   they sigh again.  they can do fifty,  they think.

the bell above the entrance chimes,  announcing martina’s entrance.   their pace is calm,  measured,  but their gaze is laser-focused on their surroundings.   the bakery is empty except for another patron,  and the smell of freshly baked goods hugs them like a warm blanket on a chilly winter morning.   it’s been a few days since their last visit,  the chaotic rhythm of cove architects & co. keeping them away from one of their favorite places.   yet things had calmed today,  so here they are now,  mouth watering at the sight of the sweets behind the display case.   a mischievous smile stretches their lips when they catch hadley behind the counter.   “   please tell me your éclairs are fresh this time—   ”   they always are,  martina is just messing with her.   “   —because i’m in the mood to get more than one.   ”

finally  ,  she  looks  up  and  jaw  swings  open  —  gobsmacked  to  say  the  least  ,  her  hair  was  perfect  and  she  couldn't  wait  to  snap  the  best  photos  of  it  to  upload  to  social  media.  she  thanks  the  stylist  ,  decloaking  and  heading  to  the  counter  with  a  grin  spreading  from  ear  to  ear.  "  oh  ,  you  look  absolutely  STUNNING  ,  babe!  "  she  compliments  nearest  customer  ,  their  whole  fit  rather  appealing  and  zara  felt  they  should  know  it.

afternoon  ritual  was  to  stop  by  the  bakery  ,  lola  throwing  a  tantrum  otherwise  and  he  couldn't  stand  to  watch  her  scream  and  kick  yet  again  today.  it'd  been  a  rough  morning  ,  rolled  into  an  afternoon  that  he  wished  to  forget  and  believe  to  be  a  dream  instead  ,  and  so  a  little  sweet  treat  would  cure  all  of  their  problems  for  a  short  moment.  he  carries  her  in  ,  satchel  hanging  off  opposite  shoulder  and  points  from  his  place  in  the  queue  until  she  nods.  shak  cracks  a  smile  ,  stepping  forward  as  the  line  shifts  and  lola  reaches  out  to  touch  the  person  in  front  of  them.  "  no  ,  lola  —  i'm  sorry.  "  he  apologises  ,  capturing  the  little  one's  hand  in  his  own  and  kissing  it.
