Holy shit. Upon researching for my biostatistics project, I learned the discoverer of the a circulating factor in FSGS is a doctor at MY HOSPITAL.
to be clear this is the hospital I am now going to and not the one I received my transplant at.
Apparently, he led a team of researchers from over the world and discovered elevated suPAR levels that are now known to cause FSGS.
Work is now being done to develop treatments to prevent what suPAR does to the kidney.
Their team in nephrology and kidney transplants is said to be well known for complex cases and is committed to taking care of high risk patients
I'm like without words right now. I have always felt really good about my choice of where to get my transplant at but know I definitely know. Things keep happening that show me that I'm at the right place. This feels right. My last hospital, nothing ever felt good. I just took it as nervousness and a being a first time transplant recipient.
