SUPERFAM
“Wait!”
Susan could only stare in horror as Kon sailed over her head and rammed into the nearby building.
The machine that had done the job glistened in the artificial nights of the city. The mechs purple and green colors were as recognizable as the face of the wearer.
“Lex please stop!” She cried out, struggling to stand, but crumbled to the ground. The green pulse of the kryptonite stuck in her leg highlighted her veins as it slowly crawled upwards. Susan was going to ask Clark about where Luthor was getting all this kryptonite because there was no way that the League couldn’t have noticed him making a mech suite with knuckles laced with the rock.
Given how labored Kon’s breathing was, she could only assume that he got snagged by the rock pretty badly too.
Luthor just laughed at her pitiful display to stand back up.
“I can’t believe you fell for that.” He said smugly. “Honestly, you take more after Superman than I give credit for.” The man pressed a button on his suit, replaying the call for help that had brought Susan to this exact spot.
“A failure of a clone and a failure of a hero. It suits you well, girl. But not as good as I am going to feel once I do this.”
With a snap of the billionaire’s mecha fingers, the ground nearby opened up. A platform came up showing two small boys inside a green tinted glass jar.
Susan felt all the blood drain from her face seeing a spiky-haired boy rapidly shaking his friend’s body.
It was Damian and Jon.
“You like my little project, Susan? I wasn’t thinking on testing it just yet, but these so-called ‘Super Son’s’ found their way to the wrong side of my lab, and well, we couldn’t have that.” Luthor pressed another button making the green tint opaquer. Susan teared up hearing the boys scream in pain.
“Super boy! Robin! Lex stop it! You’re hurting them!” She screamed.
“You want me to stop? Well then, my dear, who exactly will stop me?”
Luthor had fully expected for his latest clone to cry and call out for Superman. That was the whole point of this plan to trap him in the kryptonite laced net he had ready. He did not expect Susan to launch herself at him and begin to tear all of the mechs sensitive wires.
The mech tried to punch the girl off with more kryptonite, but that didn’t seem to bother her too much. Not when there was literal red in her eyes.
There was a brief pause from the onslaught once the clone saw that Lex had begun to bleed inside the mech.
“Set. Them. Free. Now.” She spat letting her eyes glow redder by the second.
Without another word, the green glass dropped. Robin, half conscious, began to drag Super Boy away from the kryptonite shards and seemingly began calling someone on his commline. Susan couldn’t tell who exactly, the ringing in her ears was getting too loud.
She let the mech’s armor go just as it suddenly flew away into the city’s skyline. The clone grunted as she fell backwards and looked at the stars, her laugh came out wet and raspy.
The boys were safe.
They were safe.
And Susan was tired.
Just as the black spots began to dance and take over her vision, she saw a purple blouse and felt someone cradling her head.
