@rivsmuses (forbes)
The night is silent for once, having given the two time to settle and relax. A campfire crackled between them, a small cooking kit set up and balanced an even distance over the flames. Alder’s legs were crossed, the blade in his hand sliding along the scales of the rainbow trout settled above his lap. With time to relax out in Holland Valley, Alder decided to grill some fish for dinner. It was really all they had considering the lake they were set up beside.
Alder didn’t know MUCH about Forbes, and that was fine. The older man kept to himself a lot, just like Alder. They worked together. They were coworkers. And together, they were tasked with saving everyone ELSE before the Seed Siblings decided they just weren’t worth the HASSLE of keeping them alive.
He doubted that would happen SOON.
A few more cuts followed; the spine was removed and set aside. In moments like these, Alder didn’t really know WHAT to say to him. Forbes always seemed so serious. So FOCUSED on the job and more than willing to ignore anyone who tried to speak to him. Alder wasn’t very good at starting small talk anyways. So silence would have to do for now....at least until he could think of SOMETHING. And it happened a lot sooner than he thought it would.
“Hey...can you pass the olive oil? It’s in the front pocket of the backpack next to you...salt and pepper too. They’re in a little bag.”
