the iplier problematic fav: why u like them (analyzed)

Darkiplier: damn, that edgy manipulative stuff really got you. you want a guy who can 100% keep things on the dl, but conspire with at the same time. maybe feeling a new rush of uncontrollability is something you like, or prefer the control to be in another's hands. there's a power they have that you envy to have.

The Author/Host: the guy may be blind be he knows more about you than yourself. literature is appealing, a way one could manipulate words escapes you, or you admire it. There's a certain mystery that lingers, but it won't faze you.

Wilford Warfstache: the bubbly murder, his every reaction invites for response. carefree, yet troubled. you can relate, yet may not undersrand why. or maybe you just like pastel. an innocence that lies hidden or is broadcast far and wide, with something else always underneath

Googleplier: you want control. maybe you lack it. orders and commands appeal to you. they aren't necessarily witty, or sassy, but you know their response to a conflict will be neat and swift. no more and no less. organization is a must, regardless. there's the hint of evil that shows through, but you know in essence, it's harmless.

Dr. Iplier: the man has courtesy. he may not see it in every perspective, but it's there. you want someone more honest and blantant, but choosy with their words. there's a hint of compassion in what they do that you envy.

Bim Trimmer: he's got the enthusiasm. a bit confident, some might even say overzealous. sees their own importance, or what they can bring to the table. what do you want? pretty much all of that.

Yandereplier: finally, someone who might even yearn for you. a trait that shows unending care, with the cost of possibly too much attention, but that wouldn't matter to you. always gets what they want, no matter what.

Ed Edgar: he's got some sly wit, and you know they can make you laugh. possibly too honest, but satirical at the same time, their responses lack direction. maybe you know there's character in there, willing to share what they know. adventurous, maybe, and even enjoys a thrill.

Jim(s): their dry yet snarky comments add to a conversation. they've got facts, who know if they're true. you know the duo comes as a package, and you're willing to accept full force their attitudes, even if they are somewhat solemn

So I know everyone is eggin' for Host angst but what about Doctor angst?!? His powers can be overwhelming from time to time, especially if there is a big tragedy coming up like a big car accident or a building going to catch on fire. So the Doctor will shut himself down and lock himself away all alone just drowning in all the death he can see. And Host tries to help as much as he can because he knows what it's like to know terrible things

He’s learned, over time, how to block out the visions, how to access them if he truly needs them, He supposes that makes him lucky, but there are times when even he, with all his experience, cannot stop them. 

It’s during those times, when the visions are so persistent that completely bypass his mental walls, that Dr. Iplier knows he has to be alone. He doesn’t want to have to see the awful things that have and will plague his friends, doesn’t need their sad eyes burned into his mind. Even locked in his room he can see them, the devastation on Bim’s face when he flusters and accidentally sets fire to one of his plants, the King, lying in bed fever-ridden, his furry subjects unable to comfort him. 

Dr. Iplier feels their grief almost as if it were his own, though thankfully he’s spared from their physical pain. 

And of course the Host helps. His own mental walls make him like a black hole of sorts, an empty space in time that Dr. Iplier can’t see (unless they make skin contact). They sit together, speak, (sometimes about the visions, sometimes about more mundane things) and Dr. Iplier tries to ignore the things he sees leaking through the Host’s mental walls when he lets his guard down.

Hiya! I'd love to hear any of those Dr. Iplier headcanons you have when you get a chance

Alright, sure!

In a living scenario, I can see Dark, Dr. Iplier, and The Host living in the same house. Dr. Iplier to monitor The Hosts’ wounds. Dark to monitor The Host. 

I can see Dark having some ability to manipulate dreams. Turn good dreams into nightmares. I can see him using this ability on the good doctor. 

Should Dark turn horrific and start hunting down egos starting with threat level, Dr. Iplier may take on the offensive for the protection of others. The Host might be somewhat terrifying at times but he’s his patient none-the-less and he intends to keep him healthy.  

I can see the doctor going to great means to protect others. I can see him making a grave mistake under the influence of Dark.And I can see him inevitably coming to the realization that he can never hope to defeat Dark on his own or even in general.

Maybe I can see him snapping under the pressure and becoming something he never wanted to be.

What's one of your fav ego headcanons you've seen so far

Ever since we’ve seen the Host return (who has been one of my fav Markiplier egos ever since I watched DiF), I’ve really enjoyed reasons people think why he was sitting at Dark’s right hand side in MTV. The possible history between these 2 villains I find intriguing.

He somehow lost/ damaged his eyes between Chapters 2 and 3, I hope we someday get a cannon explanation of what happened. One of my fav fan hc? It was Dark’s fault through his manipulation. Or did the Host complete the action willingly himself, or was it a freak accident?

Dude, I ain't coming after you. I just disagree. I DONT think animators getting paid is a product of them getting attention. I will admit that wasn't a very good point and didn't add to my argument at all though. But I stand by everything else I said.

please explain to me how it’s not a product of the attention? I’ve now been blatantly told that people care more about animation than illustration, which then leads to more popularity, which leads to animators getting “noticed” and then, eventually, paid to do it in many cases. It’s not like they fuckign just one day start getting money for their hard work out of the blue from some unnamed source, that doesn’t happen for anyone in the creative side of things.

But like, I think people are focusing too much on the monetary aspect?? I’m not even that bothered about that part of things, because they definitely deserve to have an income for the hard work they do, I’m not against that at all! My issue is more so that they get put on a pedestal and treated like gods among men, and they end up on the same social tier as the youtubers they animate for, while illustrators are generally ignored. I don’t understand why. It’s so hurtful, especially when some of those animators then get into the headspace that they are really so much better than everyone else and put people down constantly. It’s hurtful to witness people turn into elitist jerks and still be praised and put above others like that.

These are all very interesting observations of my art style! Heads: I know I used to have trouble drawing Mark because I was used to drawing smaller, rounder heads and his is kind of big and more square than I was used to (probably the result of drawing nothing but anime for years). I had to tweak my style just a bit to make it work Style: I really like the more detailed style some artists have, but it doesn't really work me. I like having clean linework when i color digitally and I try to keep things simple so it flows better. I try to keep my colors soft mostly because I like the aesthetic. Eyes: this one was actually a bit of a surprise to me. Back in my anime phase, I tried to make eyes super detailed (and sometimes I still do) but then I just had pretty eyes in the face of an emotionless character. I've simplified them (by a lot) but I still worry they're not expressive enough. I'm kind of surprised so many of you mentioned it. Noses: another one I was surprised by actually. Again, probably dating back to my old anime days where tiny to no noses was the thing. Mostly I was just trying to prove to myself that noses aren't that hard to draw and now I find them oddly fun.

Oh that just reminded me! I also think that Dr. Iplier has tried to get closer to the Host, but with how reclusive he has become and the ever present shadow of Dark it's been hard. But the good Doctor has come to really care for the Host

YESOriginally the Host would change his bandages himself and it would be messy and hard, but he'd get it done. And besides, he doesn't really want anyone to see his eyes.Then one day the doctor catches him and he's all apologetic, that he's sorry he had to see him like this and Dr. Iplier's like "no its cool, I'm a doctor, let me help" and the Host is hesitant at first but... Doctor knows best, doesn't he?And the doctor's really gentle too as he carefully wraps the bandages around his face, wipes off the excess blood, even hands him a lolipop despite his protests. Dr. Iplier rambles away or lets him tell a story (usually something from his old books) and he isn't obliged to say more than he's comfortable with. It's nice. Dr. Iplier convinces Dark to let him look after the Host's eyes and, to his surprise, he agrees. But he's always there, a shadow on the wall, and the Host turns back into his quiet self, only speaking to softly narrate. It's frustrating.(I didn't mean for this to be so long but gOD)

I have a headcanon that the Host rarely ever sleeps. Whether it's the fact that he can't tell when it's day or night (for obvious reasons) or that his visions and foresight are so prevalent in his mind that he can rarely ever get a moment of rest. So he is kind of like a lurker at night and at times others will find him passed out at a desk or in a random room

Oh! I really like thisHe's probably always had a bad case of insomnia as the Author, what with all those stories racing through his head. It's sleep or write and writing takes priority. As the Host though, its vision after vision and when he tries to sleep he can never tell the difference between dream and reality. The only time he gets any decent sleep is when he passes out from sheer exhaustion so he doesn't dream at all. He probably ends up falling asleep in the worst of positions and Dr. Iplier has to massage the crick out of his neck.
