Ares reveals C8 Corvette-based S1 Project Spyder😍💯💥🔥🔥. . After stunning us in September with the S1 Project based on the running gear of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Italian coachbuilder and car customizer Ares has revealed an even sexier open-top version dubbed the S1 Project Spyder. . The car is devoid of a roof and windshield, making it a true speedster similar in ethos to other modern creations like the Aston Martin V12 Speedster and McLaren Elva. However, to provide at least some semblance of civility, Ares has fitted small wind deflectors to protect the driver and passenger. These deflectors are shaped so that they channel air away from the cabin and into the rear fender vents. . Mechanically, nothing has been changed from the coupe. Sitting up back is the Corvette Stingray's 6.2-liter V-8 which Ares, with help from a U.S.-based supplier, has tuned to deliver 715 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque. According to Ares, the significant jump in output—we're talking over 200 horses—was achieved with a new exhaust system and a retuned ECU. The engine is still hooked to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and will rocket the S1 Project Spyder to 62 mph from rest in a claimed 2.7 seconds. . As with the S1 Project coupe, just 24 examples of the S1 Project Spyder are destined for production. Ares hasn't mentioned pricing but as a guide, the coupe is priced from 500,000 euros. Bugatti in recent weeks has been hinting at a model with radical styling and on Wednesday the car was revealed as the new Bolide. . The Bolide is the result of a challenge put forward by Bugatti chief Stephan Winkelmann to his team to imagine a Bugatti developed without any restraints. The resulting car is a track car, and strictly a one-off, at least for now. . It isn't based on any existing Bugatti, although it shares its 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W-16 engine and an all-wheel-drive system with the Chiron and its various coach-built versions. Here, the engine delivers 1,577 horsepower with 98-octane fuel. However, it can also run on 110-octane racing fuel which sees its output bumped to 1,824 hp. Peak torque in this case would be 1,365 pound-feet. . The engine revs higher than in the Chiron, a change that necessitated a number of tweaks. Among these was an upgrade of the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, along with changes to the intake and exhaust systems for better throttle response. New turbochargers designed to deliver more power at the top end were also installed, and both the lubrication and cooling systems were also upgraded to handle the extra grunt. Bugatti says the two main radiators at the front of the vehicle are more effective in terms of flow than even the designs used in Formula One. The Evija (pronounced "E-vi-ya") could be the quickest street-legal car from 0-186 mph, according to the company's estimates. . Lotus previously said the Evija would do 0-186 mph in less than 9.0 seconds. Top Gear noted that this beats internal-combustion supercars like the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport and Ferrari SF90 Stradale. . Granted, it's only at those high speeds that the Evija pulls away from the competition.
