-my first ask, thank you so much! have some slight angst (that takes place mostly in lena’s head) with a very happy ending :) send me prompts!-
“I didn’t really understand the concept when I first came here. Earth, I mean,” Kara says and Lena’s hearts plummets. It’s what she expected, really, but still she clenches her jaw as she nods and smiles and urges Kara to go on, to keep on talking.
Kara doesn’t say it, not in those exact words anyways, but it’s all that Lena can hear. I don’t have a mark. I don’t have a name. Lena, despite the revelation, cuddles closer. It’s pathetic, but she can’t help herself. She doesn’t have a name. Doesn’t have Lena’s.
Kara’s place is comfortable, calming. Where Lena’s walls are bland and white and adorned with nothing but burnt-in sad stares, Kara’s are yellow and full of smiling faces. Picture frames all over the place, in some of which Lena - proudly - has found herself in. She likes it better here, prefers spending her time here where everything smells sweet and of Kara. Far away from work and a building that adorns a last name Lena never wanted, far away from having to be someone she’s not.
It’s a hiatus, every Friday night - deemed movie night - a long, drawn out sigh of relief. The large bowl that had been filled to the brim with popcorn is now empty, their movie having ended some hours ago. But as always they’re still here, Lena in one of Kara’s sweaters and both of them partly covered by the same blanket, limbs sprawled out over a couch so comfortable that both of them have fallen asleep on it, rather than the bed, more than once in the past.
Their conversation gets interrupted, every now and then, by stifled yawns and eyes daring to fall shut, but Lena still watches Kara in the dim light as she talks of her home.
“Alex was the first to tell me about it, naturally. I thought it was exciting. Soulmates.” Kara chuckles, revels in the memory. “She showed me her mark immediately. Sam, on her hip. Back then she thought it was going to be a guy. She never shut up about it, ever.”
Lena smiles, her trembling fingers playing with the fabric of Kara’s shirt. She looks at her, knows what will come next.
“I would’ve done anything to have my own.”
Lena knows it’s not her place to feel like this, whatever it is. Disappointment. The feeling seems to be mocking her, almost, and Lena knows it’s deserved. She had known it’d be like this, she had always known. People with a name like hers don’t get granted a soulmate, not someone like this. Not someone this bright yellow, this good. It had been a pathetic thought to begin with.
Lena breathes quietly through the silence, not trusting her own voice, unable to stand that look on Kara’s face. Her features open, like a child’s, disappointment written all over them. Lena wants to reach out, instead grips her shirt tighter.
“So you don’t have one?” she asks eventually, though the answer had been clear as soon as the subject had been brought up. There’s no hiding the pain in Kara’s eyes, in her entire being, and there’s no hiding the fact that of course Lena’s name would never find a place on Kara’s skin.
“I don’t,” Kara sighs, asks the question Lena had been scared of. “Do you?”
Kara must know she does, that everyone here on earth does. It’s not what she’s asking, not really. “What does yours say, what name?” is the question Lena reads between the lines, between soft fingers now playing with her hair. Lena closes her eyes.
“I don’t have one,” she lies, whispers. Painfully so. Kara Zor-El burns on her shoulder.
//
Lena paces the DEO until finally Alex, with an eyeroll - more affectionate than annoyed -, allows her to enter the room.
Kara is positioned under a red sun lamp, no longer in her supersuit. Different parts of her body are adorned with bruises, blue and yellow like bold strokes across a canvas of skin. She looks weak, feeble. Human. After a day full of fighting aliens, Kara Zor-El looks like a little girl, soft features and shallow breathing, eyes closed only until Lena approaches and she opens them slowly, followed by an instant smile blossoming on chapped lips.
"You're here," Kara whispers through said smile, as if there'd been another option. "You were there."
Lena's cheeks redden as she imagines what Kara must be recalling. Fighting that alien, tumbling down 30 feet onto the hard concrete of the city below, Lena yelling at Alex to let her through.
Lena falling to her knees, Lena begging, Lena softly caressing her face. Lena telling her to stay alive. You have to.
Just like Lena needed to be there, needs to be here now.
"Of course I'm here. Kara, I…", Lena begins, but stops herself quickly. How do you tell someone that they're your entire world, when their skin doesn't even bear your name?
But Kara doesn't push, asks something unexpected instead. "Can I see it?"
"What?" Lena's heart sinks. She knows what Kara is asking for, her lie weak from the beginning.
"Your soulmate mark," Kara clarifies, just as Lena had expected her to. "Can you please show it to me?"
Lena does. She pulls down her shirt to expose her shoulder, but it feels like more than that. The act feels like undressing, like taking off her shirt, her bra, stepping out of her skin. Lena's never felt as naked or vulnerable, but all Kara does is gently trace her own name with soft fingers.
It's an intimate silence that follows, a comfortable one. Between them there's only soft breathing and a name, and Kara's tears.
"You're mine too, you know." Kara whispers, continues because Lena doesn't know what to say. "My soulmate, I mean. I can feel it."
"But you… -"
"Don't have a mark," Kara finishes for her, sighs. "I don't think I need one, to know that it's you. I just do."
The words run like fire through Lena's veins, spreading a painful warmth that she knows will not last. "How can you be sure? How-"
"Lena." Kara takes Lena's hand, playing with her fingers as she speaks. "I've never been more sure of anything in my entire life, trust me. I have no way of knowing that this is the right thing to do and yet, if you'll let me, I know I'll want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side."
There's another retort on the tip of Lena's tongue, tears welling in her eyes. Kara squeezes her hand, shakes her head.
"I don't have your name, but I want it. I choose you, Lena, shouldn't that count for something?"
Lena wants to say yes, wants to scream it, but they've just deemed words unfit to always convey the right answer, and so she leans forward instead to kiss Kara. To kiss her soulmate.
So I may or may not have written a one shot about Jess going on vacation and appointing Supergirl to deliver food for Lena because she knows her boss will forget to eat and Lena doesn't know about any of it and just randomly finds food and coffee on her balcony and she's so so so very confused about the whole thing because she just recently moved to National City and "Does Supergirl deliver food to everyone in the city?" and tries to catch the hero to ask her but Supergirl is too awkward and just keeps leaving the food on her balcony and flying away and Lena is very much convinced that Supergirl doesn't have time to talk to her because she delivers food to everyone in the city and "Oh wow, she's much different from her cousin"
Ok, what if you had free reign to write the confrontation of Lena telling kara she knows, Queen of angst what would you do?
-————————————
This wasn’t what she wanted.
Lena watched with shuddered breath the news footage of the city below her tearing itself apart. Technology repurposed to hijack minds and amplify aggression. All in the pursuit of endless destruction and the desire to watch the world burn.
She pinched the bridge of her nose, the tight skin on the left side of her face pinched too at the action. Something that no amount of the super-soldier serum she created would ever be able to take away.
She hadn’t wanted to kill her. Lena had just wanted her to suffer the same way she had. To feel the sting of the slow knife of betrayal and grief as it slipped between her ribs and pierced her heart. Infecting her the same way it had infected Lena.
Kara didn’t know that Lena herself was the new superpower vigilante that was roaming the streets of National City. Throwing murderers out of second-story buildings, breaking their legs and holding white-collar criminals under the water of the river until they near drowned and transferred back all the money they had stolen.
Lena didn’t feel a need to be nice anymore. To be kind, or walk the line between who she pretended to be and who she really was. Not while she was wearing a mask. Not while she was nameless to the world.
First, it had started out as a need to prove something to herself. That she was capable of taking back control of her own life. That she could stand away and separate from everyone that had lied to her and convinced her with insidious kindness that she was one of them. That she could be enough by herself.
And the more she had cemented herself as a creature of the night, the more she had withdrawn from the circle of liars she had once thought her friends. Back into her work, and trusting in what she knew was reliable. Technology and science during the day, and blood and violence in the night.
It had taught her things that she never knew even existed, being a vengeful predator. Cementing her belief in the inartistic wickedness of some people. How they would scrabble and climb on the corpses and gasping people beneath them, all so they could have more then they would ever need. How people could cause the pain of the innocent, and the deaths of the gentle until all that was left was a battered and subdued society, that truly believed all they were worth was to be treated like mindless cattle for the amusement of twisted minds and greedy people.
Kara had wondered why she had withdrawn from them all. She didn’t know that Lena knew, but Lena would watch the security tapes silently as Kara tried to enter the building and was rejected more than once. She watched as her phone rang and rang and Kara left dozens of messages that she never responded too. Sometimes, she would listen on the microphones she had implanted in Kara’s apartment as Kara and Alex talked about how worried they were for her. Wondering if Lex’s death had affected her so much, and what Kara could do to help.
Lena knew that Kara suspected her of killing her brother.
But Kara never knew that she was now the dark ghost of the city, the one that criminals whispered about in fear.
They hadn’t paid much attention to her at first, not realising that she wasn’t just some pesky nuisance that would go away at the first time of real danger. It wasn’t until she had worked her way up the ranks of criminals enough to finally bust an alien trading ring, that Supergirl had first found her.
Lena had waited with bated breath, her body, face and heartbeat hidden behind the microscopic lead she had lined her suit with as Kara perched herself in front of her on a rooftop and had the gall to ask her to reveal who she was. Wanting to know her motives and why she was doing what she was doing.
And an offer of friendship. The idea to work together for a common goal.
But Lena didn’t care for Kara’s soft handed and ineffective methods, and she revelled in the knowledge that for once it was her keeping who she really was hidden. And Kara the one left in the dark about the reality of their confrontation. That the nameless, faceless, brutal, vindicator in front of her was, in fact, the same woman she had befriended and lied the entire time that they had known each other.
Pretending that she actually cared. And Lena had been the fool to start feeling things for Kara that she never thought she was capable of.
To feel like maybe they had a connection beyond mere friendship.
But it was all a lie.
And she wasn’t going to be used by anyone ever again. Not by her brother, not by her mother and not by Kara. Finding out that Lena was the National City Vigilante, and then keeping her under even tighter surveillance for the rest of her life. Always doubting who she was, and pretending that she never saw her as anything but a Luthor.
So, not even bothering to reply, she had thrown a red sun bomb into Kara’s face and ran to hide in the night.
Things had only escalated from there, with Kara dogging her every step as Supergirl, but always half a step behind. Just the way Lena liked it. Finding the criminals tied up and bleeding, but never with Lena standing above them. Or the victims of a car wreck arrived safely on the pavement, Lena vanished from the scene. Sometimes she did find her, confront Lena with an increasingly frustrated attitude, but Lena never gave her a chance to get more than two words out before she evaded her once more.
She had just wanted her to suffer the same way she had.
Cat and mouse, cat and mouse for months until the rumours and whispers began in the city. Of something dangerous, something new. A dark thing that infected the minds of all who came into contact with it and drove them mad. Amplifying the characteristics of its respondent, particularly their aggression. Making them viciously violent with no care for their own safety. Lena was so close to tracking down the source when she had been ambushed by the DEO. A ring of agents circling her and Kara hovering above them all. Telling her that they had to stop her to stop the violence.
That this wasn’t the way to be a true hero.
Like Lena had ever cared about that.
She wasn’t going to go down without a fight and had ripped through them with a flurry of broken bones and smashed faces. Kara unable to do anything beyond collapse to the ground in agony when Lena admitted a vaporous form of kryptonite into the air.
It was only once the squadron of agents lay bleeding and broken on the ground that Lena felt the loud bang of a bullet against her helmet, turning to see that it was Alex who had fired it. Standing a few feet away, the expression of Alex’s face cold and blank, Lena felt a sudden rage grip her. Knowing in her bones that this face was the truth. That even though Alex didn’t know who she was, this was the real way, this was how the lot of them really saw Lena Luthor.
She had flown at her with a scream, overcome with it all. Grabbing her around the throat and slamming her back into the wall again and again until the concrete behind her cracked. Knowing that all Kara could do was crawl towards them both with a scream, begging her to stop before she killed her sister.
But Lena had no intention to kill Alex. She just wanted to watch her bleed and crack and break until she physically felt everything that Lena had felt emotionally. Broken and ruined.
Once she had dropped Alex, wheezing, to the floor, Lena had barely given the tearful Kara a final glance before she walked away, leaving the superhero on the ground in her own measure of pain.
Lena hoped the pain of it hurt far longer then it took for Alex’s wounds to heal.
Days passed, and Kara stopped calling. No doubt tending her sister's bedside as her priority to look after her overtook her need to keep Lena on a leash. But with each day, Lena felt a sort of charged tension in the air. Running electricity that promised something dark was coming. Something bad. Lena knew that it had something to do with this mysterious danger that was infecting people. Leaving them screaming in agony and rage, tied down to hospital beds until their hearts gave out.
The third night since the incident in the warehouse, thunder and lightning cracked outside across the sky as she sat in her penthouse, and she poured over all the information she had gathered trying to find a lead to somewhere useful. Her refined ears picked up on the sound of a soft landing on her balcony, a break in the flashing sky, Lena looked up to see Supergirl standing in her apartment living room and staring at her with a dark rage.
Lena had never related more to Kara in her life.
“Lena.”
A twisted feeling of satisfaction grew in her chest and on her face as she realised that Kara had finally figured out who she was.
“Kara.”
She had dreamt for months, wondering how she would confront Kara with the knowledge that she knew the truth. She had imagined every detail, every reaction. Both her’s and Kara’s. She had wondered if Kara would cry...if she would beg for forgiveness... if she would continue to try and pretend that she cared about her. That she hadn’t known the full extent and depth of Lena’s feelings and used them against her to care.
So she watched with cruel fascination at the expressions crossing Kara’s face in the moments after the reveal. The doubt, the fear, the regret before the final set of initial rage, amplified now, set in once more.
Lena had never seen her so angry.
She stood slowly, keeping her eyes on Kara with a smirk as she walked towards her liquor cabinet. Pouring herself a drink, she took a long sip before offering the bottle to Kara.
“Would you like a drink?” She drawled smartly, feeling every inch of revenge as if filled and grew in her heart.
At Kara’s silence, Lena’s smirk widened.
“I’m sorry, what was I thinking?” She questioned, walking a few steps towards Kara now.
“Bad for your public image, Ms Key to the City.”
Kara’s dark eyes were twisted with hate, and she stared at Lena with a snarl on her face.
“You hurt my sister,” she spat. “You almost killed her.”
Lena let out a cold laugh.
“No, I didn’t,” she responded cruelly, taking another long sip of her drink. “I knew she wouldn’t die.”
She liked the way fury looked on Kara’s face. Watching the unbridled fury in her eyes, recognising the reality of who Kara really was.
A sinner with a God complex.
“The duplicity and lies kept all of you standing far longer then you deserve,” Lena continued bitterly, moving even closer and watching as Kara’s fists clenched and her entire body trembled. “Tell me, did you laugh about it in secret? The big lie, the truth that you kept from me while you pretended to be my friends?”
She drank the last dregs, before throwing the glass to the ground with a shatter, stepping on the broken shards with a crunch as she stared at Kara, an inch away from her face.
“Or did you kid yourself,” she whispered, eyes flickering over her face. “Pretending it was ok… to stop it from keeping you up at night.”
Lena remembered she once thought that the blue of Kara’s eyes was the most beautiful thing in the world. That Kara’s eyes contained a world’s worth of caring and kindness. But they revealed the truth now, dark and filled almost with black ink in the shadows of Lena’s home.
“I cared about you,” Kara hissed through gritted teeth, her entire body betraying the falseness of her words. “I cared about you more than anyone else in my life. You were never anyone but Lena to me.”
She seemed to loom over Lena now, but Lena didn’t care.
A godly presence is only powerful so long as you believe in them.
“But you’re not that person anymore,” Kara spat, looking her over with disdain. “You’ve become everything that you swore never to be. A violent thug with a power complex.”
Lena snarled at the words, stung by the hypocrisy. And now all she could think of was revenge. She wanted to goad Kara. She wanted her to fight her. Lena wanted to hurt her in every way she possibly could.
“Maybe I am glad…” The words rolling off her tongue like honey. “Maybe I’m glad that I hurt her.”
Lena reached up a hand, hovering over Kara’s heart.
“I’m glad that I made you really bleed the way you made me.”
Kara threw the first punch, the crack of it hitting Lena’s jaw throwing her back a few steps as Kara strode forward into her space. Before Lena could regain her footing, Kara backhanded her again, before pulling back for another punch. Hitting Lena’s chin, she finally felt her back slam into the wooden pillar behind. Regaining her sense in the split second that Kara took to launch towards her, ready to pin her no doubt, Lena unsheathed the Kryptonite dagger she’d attached to the armoured bracers underneath her shirt, stabbing it upwards when Kara reached her space and watching with satisfaction at the pained shock that crossed the other woman’s face.
Kara looked down at the green dagger with wide eyes as Lena’s face settled into a vicious snarl, fighting against the tight grip Kara had on her wrist as they struggled with each other. Battling their strengths and not gaining any ground. Kara finally managed the push her way, the dagger withdrawing and Lena ducked under the roundhouse punch that followed, realising the scythed blades on the back of her right arm, tearing through her shirt sleeve as she swung it viciously towards Kara’s face in retaliation.
Was the one to duck this time, her eyes wide, before lifting her leg and kicking Lena back hard into the wall with a solid hit to her chest. Lena slammed into it and heard the mirror behind her shatter. She let out a hiss, swinging her arm wildly again when Kara ran forward. They ducked and weaved in a wild dance before Kara stumbled and barely managed the grab Lena’s swinging arm before it hit her face. Kara’s hand vibrated with waning strength against the green blades, an inch from piercing her eyes, barely holding Lena’s arm at bay as Lena bore down with her full weight.
Kara managed to push her away suddenly, and Lena hit her quickly with a punch from her other hand, hoping to daze her as she swung her forearm once more. Kara hit the pillar herself, managing to drop just in time for Lena’s blades to instead embed themselves in the wood.
Lena tried to yank them out with a yell, but Kara sharp hand came down on her arm instead, leaving the bladed behind as they sheared off her bracer.
Kara knocked her back with a shove, moving quickly to press her advantage, but Lena was getting used to her pattern of fighting. Mimicking the kick Kara had used on her, Lena’s foot connected with Kara’s chest and sent her flying back across the room and into a table, cracking it in half.
Lena stalked forward with bared teeth as Kara clambered up in the wreck.
“How’d you like that, Girl of Steel?”
Kara stood up under the taunt, shaking herself loose as she raised her hands in a fighting stance.
“Is that all you got?”
They circled each other for a second before Lena aggressed once more. A flurry of punches and kicks, leaving each other both hard and bruised. Kara grabbed Lena’s shoulders suddenly, shoring her with all of her might and sending Lena crashing through the window. Rolling through the glass now shattered on her balcony, Lena lifted herself shakily to her knees, glaring at Kara’s smug face as she felt the prickle of a cut on her lip bleed down her chin.
Lena touched it with a hiss.
“Stings, doesn’t it?” Kara taunted.
Lena growled, gathering her strength.
“I protected you as Supergirl,” she spat with blood. “And now I’m gonna kick your ass.”
Kara shivered with fake fright.
“Oooh.”
Lena ran forward in a crouch, launching towards Kara midsection, hoping to knock her over so she could once again gain the advantage. But Kara grabbed her, plucking her almost out of her motion, and slammed her back into a wall. Lena managed to dodge the two punches sent her way, hearing the crack as they broke through the wall behind her, but Kara grabbed her by the lapels once more and threw her into the ceiling. Lena hit it with a sharp crack, her ears ringing she landed on the floor hard. Kara stared at her from across the room with hatred in her eyes. Lena scrambled to her feet, accepting that she was outmatched in this scenario. Without warning, she ran towards the full-length mirror in the hallway, listening as Kara super steps pounded behind her. Kara hit her back just when they were about to reach it, and they both flew forward. The mirror shattering as they rolled into the secret room Lena had built behind it.
Lena ran in the split second that Kara was thrown off guard, looking around her laboratory, the arsenal that lined her walls and the glass chamber that Lena inoculated herself with the gas version of her serum. She reached the racks of Kryptonite blades she had developed before Kara could, swinging them viciously in practised movements, hoping to get a hit. But despite her precision, and the kryptonite effect, Kara still managed to dodge a weave under her strikes. Backing away quickly as Lena swung her way forward. On a final side step, the force of her stroke caused Lena to accidentally hit a computer, sending a sharp burst of sparks and electricity through the room and blinding Lena temporarily.
Before she could recover, Lena felt herself being thrown into another wall, her head cracking against it and her neck snapping to the side so viciously, she felt the impact reverberate down her spine.
Lolling slightly, and gasping for breath, Lena managed to prop herself up weakly as Kara stalked toward her slowly. Looming over her like a dark spectre, Lena spat exhaustedly at Kara’s feet.
“You going to kill me now?” Lena managed to hiss through the blood. “If you do, you’ll prove everything I know about you right.”
Kara scoffed, her eyes blank and cold.
“I’m done trying to convince you.”
Lena took a few shuddering breaths.
“You lied to me.” Her voice hoarse and cracking. “You betrayed me.”
There was a second of pause, but in that time, Lena saw what must have been every emotion in the world pass across Kara’s face before it finally settled on cruelty.
“Yes, I lied,” she admitted with a smug hint of pride. “I lied saying I cared about you.”
Even though it was what Lena had been telling herself for months now, the words still managed to knock the air left in her lungs out of her. Kara stared down at her reaction with amusement, seemingly delighted.
“The truth is,” Kara shrugged. “I just felt guilty. I felt guilty because you’re a pathetic, wounded creature with no spine beyond what I gave you.”
Lena’s chest started to heave, the words piercing her heart and she filled with a mountain of hurt, fury and a deep cavernous sense of loss. Realising now totally that Kara had given her a world built on lies, and had stolen it from her just as cruelly.
“Oh, look,” Kara crooned cruelly. “Are you going to cry now?”
Lena let out a roar, ready to launch to her feet, but Kara was prepared for her. Throwing her back to ground with a hard hit to her head.
Lena’s ears rang with it once more, her eyes were fuzzy. She watched as Kara turned, leaving her in the broken glass and shattered dreams as she walked away. Lena took heaving breathes, her head unable to stay upright, and that was when she saw it. A shrapnel bomb, laced with enough power to explode an armoured door, lying near her on the remains of a shattered shelf. Reaching out for it, she primed it without thinking, before throwing it with the remainder of her strength at Kara’s head, hoping to knock her off balance in one final attempt to strike a wound.
The last thing she remembered was watching Kara pluck it from the air and throw it back towards her without a sound. And the stinging explosion burning and blasting through her left ear, before it all went dark.
And now here she was, living a shadow life in her apartment for the past few weeks as she tried to recover all the final things that Kara had stolen from her. Left to watch as the trail she had been following reached it’s conclusion with corrupted technology that had sent everyone with it near them or in their phones mad and was now tearing the city below apart.
Lena let out another sigh, turning off the TV with a click and walked towards the single remaining picture she had on her coffee table. Picking it up, she stared down at the photo of her and Kara, well over a year ago now, looking happily into the camera.
All lies.
She threw it away.
“Lena.”
Lena’s heart lurched at the soft call, in a voice she could recognise in her dreams and her nightmares without a thought. Half turning, her face hidden in shadows, she looked at Kara dressed as her human persona for once, standing in her living room the way she had weeks before.
Now though she seemed softer, gentler and weaker all at once. Lena wondered why she had come like that, maybe in a display of honest. The situation though lay flat and dead, the echoed anger and pain from their confrontation leaking through the air between them.
She had been honest enough about what she really felt the last time she was here.
Kara stared at her with pleading eyes, and Lena recognised the desperation quickly in her stance.
“I need your help,” Kara sounded out. “Everyone else has been corrupted, and I can’t stop it, not by myself.”
Lena turned now fully, stepping out into the light and allowing Kara to finally see her face.The serum had done what it did best, rapidly healing and evening the skin until it seemed like the scars had plagued her all her life. But even it was beyond fixing it. Half of it covered in deep scars by the bomb, her mouth cut almost through, her ear mangled, her skin stretched and pocketed and her left eye cloudy. The shrapnel from the bomb had torn through her face like it was soft meat. And now, all that was left was calloused, hard and agonisingly painful.
Kara’s mouth opened with sorrow and shock, but Lena could only feel tired anger in her heart, looking at the woman who had given her as much pain now physically as she had emotionally.
“You don’t deserve my help.”
Kara stared at her, a strange emotion that Lena didn’t recognise filling her eyes before she nodded in acknowledgement of Lena’s words.
“Lena… this city needs us,” she said with a soft and gentle voice. “This isn’t about you… or me. It’s about them.”
Lena didn’t care what the city needed. She didn’t care what they wanted, or anything she had tried to achieve. She didn’t care that it was burning around them. All she cared about was the fog she now existed in, her soul shattered so entirely that she couldn’t recall a single thing about what she really was anymore, and that the person who had done all that was three metres in front of her.
Lena’s face stiffened with pain and hurt, and she shook her head.
“Get out.”
Kara stared at her for a few soft beats before nodding in reply. Without a single backward glance, she hovered gently and flew off into the sky above the sound of fires and shouting in the streets below.
Lena stood stock still, feeling on the verge of collapse and tears when the soft sounds of footsteps behind her. She turned to see Jess, standing still and watching her. Jess, who had been the only one who she always let in. Silent and dependable, who had volunteered without a word or prompting to look after Lena while she recovered. Somehow knowing without Lena saying what she needed, and saying nothing herself.
“If I may, Ms Luthor,” Jess spoke gently. “I’ve seen things working for you, that I’ve never spoken of.”
Lena’s jaw tightened.
“What are you trying to tell me?”
Knowing that Jess wouldn’t say anything without it being necessary. That she had already known that Kara was really Supergirl before she had cleaned Lena’s wounds and nursed her with knowledge and skill that had Lena doubting she was really just a secretary.
Jess stepped forward once more until she was standing a few feet away.
“The night of your fight, I checked the systems you had installed in the apartment,” Jess whispered.
Lena frowned, the biometric scanners and state of the art security system she installed running through her mind like a blueprint.
“Ms Danvers may have said all those things and done all she did,” Jess said gently. “But the scans prove that she was under the influence of the tech infection.”
Lena felt her heart shudder and stop in her chest. Forced understanding filling her as she realised what Jess was really saying. Kara had been infected. By the same tech that made good people bad, and bad people worse. That caused anger, hate and fear rise in an inhuman way.
Lena left out a heavy breath and felt tears prickle at the corners of her eyes.
“I know you’re trying to defend your honour,” Jess continued softly. “But there’s no question… that she didn’t hurt you by her own volition. Her actions and her words were false.”
Lena’s jaw flexed as the emotions that she had been cut off from for over a year, filled her whole body once more. Looking down at the floor, her attention was drawn upwards once more when Jess took another step into her space. Eyes clear and honest.
“I have watched you over the years,” she said firmly. “I have watched you with her and who she helped you become. I’ve loved your vision, I’ve loved your company, and I love you. As your friends love you… as Ms Danvers does.”
Lena felt her lips tremble, and she was unable to stop herself from getting overwhelmed.
And that feeling that had crossed Kara’s face.. the one she didn’t recognise before Jess had said out loud, now became blindingly obvious.
This was based on a prompt that I saw on Tumblr a few days ago, posted by a certain @awkwardlytimednosebleed that says:
“You know what song would make a great Super Corp AU? “The house that built me” by Miranda Lambert heart broken Kara goes to her childhood home and who owns it?!? Lena. And they fall in love. Boom amazing.”
Summary:
“Alex! Hey!”
“Well, someone can’t sleep without hearing my voice, missing your big sister already?” Alex chuckled. “How is my baby sister doing?”
“Guess where I am right now?”
“Where? Uhh…the rooftop? Wait, are you drunk?”
“No. Maybe?”
“Ooh…oh, no, Kar? Please don’t tell me you’re…?” Alex sounded a little more worried again.
“I made it, Alex! I’m back in Midvale, and it’s still here! Our home!”
Lena heard the knock on her door and didn’t need to look up from her work to know it was her secretary, Jess. She highlighted a line of the contract that she needed to speak to the legal department about and noticed Jess placing a covered plate of food on her desk.
Just as she was about to argue that she wasn’t hungry, Jess put a finger up, shutting her up completely.
“One day, this conversation is gonna get old.” Jess said sternly, as she began opening up containers and setting the utensils, “I bring you food, you say you're not hungry, I threaten to quit if you don't eat, you end up eating it. Let's just skip to the end, Ms Luthor.”
Lena sighed. The smell of the seasoned veggie stir-fry from her favorite Chinese restaurant making her regret claiming she wasn’t hungry, “I don't know how I'll be able to survive without you the next two weeks.”
“I told you I could set up a food delivery service for you.” Jess claimed, going to the other side of the office and grabbing a bottle of wine and a glass.
“No, no. I don't like being interrupted. Other than by you, that is. Can you imagine a delivery boy walking in on one of my meetings to give me my food? Besides, I don’t like eating from the same place every day, you know that." Lena said.
"So, hire a temporary assistant until I get back." Jess chuckled.
Lena narrowed her eyes, "Oh, I can never cheat on you, Jess. How dare you suggest I would even think of it?"
Jess rolled her eyes, as she poured a glass of red wine for her boss, "I'm serious, Ms. Luthor. She won't be responsible for anything but ordering your food. I’ll make sure of it.”
Lena leaned back in her chair and took a sip of her wine, "I'm very peculiar about who I have to deal with on a daily basis. Remember? It took me forever to choose you as my assistant.”
Jess feigned innocence, “I remember you choosing me in the blink of an eye,” she shrugged, “but tomayto tomahto.”
Lena found herself laughing at that, "I'm gonna miss your snarky comments."
Jess bagan clearing some of the documents that Lena had set aside and marked as complete, "If you want an assistant with my snarky comments I have one trained and ready for you."
Lena rolled her eyes, “I’ll pass, thank you very much. Besides, think of it as a challenge.”
“A challenge of what? How long can you last without food?” Jess deadpanned with a raised eyebrow.
Lena shook her head at her antics, “No. Of whether or not I’m a snobby rich CEO that doesn’t know how to function without an assistant.”
“Oh, you can function! Trust me! You just have a goldfish memory regarding your food!"
Lena rolled her eyes and drank from her wine. Jess tapped the pile of papers to straighten them out, before carrying them with her, "I'm gonna take these and place them on Richard's desk. Do you need anything before I head out?"
Lena smiled warmly, "Just that you have the absolute most wonderful time on your much needed vacation."
Jess already began walking as she chuckled, "That's impossible. I'll be too worried whether or not you've dropped dead from malnutrition." she turned to Lena just as she reached the door and flinched to make her next point, "Not really in the mood to job hunt if you die on me."
Lena breathed out a chuckle in response, "Go, before I extend your vacation to 3 weeks. You're more of a workaholic than I am." Lena exclaimed.
Jess simply smiled and leaned against the door frame, "Goodbye, Ms. Luthor."
Lena returned the affectionate smile with one of her own, "See you in two weeks."
"Take care of yourself." Jess shouted from the hallway, "Literally!"
"What's the worst that can happen?" Lena replied just as loud.

Lena stayed at the office much later than she had planned. When she looked at the clock it was almost 10 pm and Jess had walked out through her doors almost 6 hours ago. She sighed at her inability to have normal working hours these days. Taking over the company has been a grand decision. One she was forced to make rather than given the option. But now that she had, she was determined to make the most of it. To create a force for good. Which was why she was changing the company name to L-Corp. A fresh start that strode away from the death and destruction that her brother had caused to the family company.
She let out a tired breath, looking at the papers in front of her. It looked to be a long night. She was only halfway through with the reports she was supposed to present tomorrow at the board meeting. She needed a break but she was determined to finish. She looked at the clock and decided to give herself another hour of work before heading home.
A few minutes later, as she was deep in thought about her presentation for the board, she heard a tap on her balcony windows. When she turned around, she found nothing.
Must be the wind.
She went back to work, but another tap interrupted her. This one sounding more like a knock. She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion and marked the spot where she left off before getting up from her chair and going to the balcony doors.
As she opened the door, she didn't find the superhero she expected to find. She had only met the hero of this city once or twice and didn't expect another visit. But no caped blonde woman stood at her balcony. Instead, there sat a brown paper bag with a huge yellow label that read "Big Belly Burger".
"What the...?" she whispered as she picked up the bag. The whiff of hot greasy food filled her nose as she opened the paper bag. Her stomach automatically rumbled at the tempting smell, her stubbornness slowly wavering.
There was only one person she knew who was able to reach her balcony and the hero was nowhere in sight. Supergirl seemed to have dropped the meal off and flew away.
It was odd. But a gesture Lena didn't think too much of. Maybe it was because she had cooperated with the government agencies to disclose information about her brother. Or maybe it was simply a late welcome-to-the-city gift. An odd gift at that, but maybe that's all that it was.
Whatever it was, Lena made a mental note to thank the hero if she ever ran into her.
A phone number would've probably been helpful right now.
She took the bag inside her office and sat down on the sofa, grabbing her tablet to finish off reading while she ate. Right at that moment, her phone began to ring.
The number of that reporter that Lena had recently befriended appeared and Lena smiled as she answered, putting it on speaker.
"Ms. Danvers?" she asked, flinching at the use of her last name even though Kara had more than once told her not to call her that. They were still pretty new to their friendship. It was unexpected, if Lena was being honest. She didn't think she would make a friend in this city that easily. But it was no easy task to say no to Kara Danvers and her golden retriever smile.
"Lena! Hi! I hope that it's ok I called so late? You're not busy or sleeping or anything right?" Kara asked in her excited nature.
"No, no. Of course not. It’s fine. Was there something you needed?" she found herself saying, always eager to please the blonde.
"Me? No no. I just thought maybe we could chat. I just ordered in and needed some company while eating."
"Oh, that's odd." Lena couldn't help but say.
"What's odd?"
Lena attention darted from the bag of food on her table, "Hmm? No, nothing. I just thought that it was odd since I was just about to eat as well. But I thought about doing some reading while eating.
"Yikes, that doesn't sound so fun. But I'll leave you to your reading then."
“No, no. Kara, please. I need an excuse to stop working for a bit. A break might help me refocus.”
“And I'm that excuse? “
“It seems you are these days.” A very very distracting excuse, Lena couldn’t help but think.
“OK, then! But should you even be working this late?”
“Truthfully, no. But my assistant isn’t here to push me out the door.” Lena admitted, chuckling at the end. She cringed after uttering the sentence, finding it a bit self-pitying.
“Well, I’m just glad you found time to eat a little.” Kara mentioned.
Lena thought of mentioning the mysterious bag of food on her balcony but decided against it, “You sound like Jess.”
“Well, she is a very wise woman. Anyway! Let me tell you about the crazy day I had today!”
Lena chuckled as she opened the bag and pulled out the French fries.

Lena arrived to work in a hurry, speaking on her phone and dumping a pile of paperwork on her desk that she had just retrieved from on top of jess' desk. It seemed as though not everyone was aware that her assistant was on vacation and that said paperwork should be put on her own desk rather than her assistant's.
"Yes, yes. I understand, Mr. Michaelson. But I truly cannot postpone my Hong Kong trip to September. It has to be next month." she unceremoniously dropped everything on her desk and watched as her purse slowly leaned at the edge before it toppled down onto the floor, spilling half its contents. Lena closed her eyes and resisted the urge to let out a loud sigh. "The deadline for the project is nearing and I need to finish up the schematics of... Yes, I understand. Mhmm. Of course. I'll have my assistant talk to you tomorrow then, ok? Ok. Goodbye."
She sank down on her chair and finally let out that sigh, only to suddenly remember that her assistant can't call him tomorrow because she was on vacation.
She cringed before she opened up her calendar on her computer to schedule a phone call with him tomorrow morning. She placed two alarms to remind her.
After looking through some emails, that were quite unpleasing if she was being honest with her herself, she pressed the intercom on her office phone to call Jess into her office.
When the usual ' Yes, Ms. Luthor?' never came, Lena groaned remembering again that Jess was on vacation. She looked at her Nespresso machine in her office and remembered it needed some sort of repairs that she could probably fix herself if she had the time.
"Ugh, what I wouldn't kill for a double shot right now!" she groaned out into the empty room.
Just then, a tap came on her balcony doors and Lena snapped her head towards the sound to find no one. When she walked towards the doors and slid them open, she found a cup of coffee with a sticky note on it.
Please don't kill anyone for coffee.
Lena gave a confused smile, looking around the sky to see if she could spot the hero but found only scattered birds. It was odd. Very very odd, in fact. She needed to speak with the hero about this. Thank her or ask her or... She wasn't sure.
She was grateful for the coffee anyway, taking a sip to find it exactly how she liked it. Very odd, indeed, for Supergirl to randomly know her exact coffee order. But she didn't have too much time to dwell on it. She took it inside to start her day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Noon came with another disaster.
"What do you mean that the arugula cashew salad has been discontinued." Lena asked over the phone, "My assistant orders it for lunch almost everyday!" she exclaimed, admittedly a bit louder than she should have. "I am perfectly calm thank you very much, but I would be much calmer if maybe I would have my lunch delivered! I don't want your apologies, I want - you know what? Nevermind. Thank you for nothing!" She hung up in the guy's face and puffed out in frustration.
"What do I have to do to get a simple arugula cashew salad with pear and stilton cheese? Honestly it's not that hard! I can hire my own personal chef to simply..."
Just then a familiar knock came from behind her and Lena this time turned faster and caught a glimpse of a red cape flying off. She rushed to her balcony to find the exact salad she was trying to order, with a sticky note stuck to it. She picked it up and read it.
Your salad was actually discontinued. So, Jess found a new place that was across town that made it and would order it from there. Delivery was extra because it was further, but according to her, the salad tastes better than the first restaurant. Please don't take it out on Gary, he only answers the phone and works part time there to pay for college.
Lena was baffled. This was getting out of hand. How on Earth would Supergirl know any of that? Did she and Jess speak often? Did Kara tell her? Did Supergirl just happen to eavesdrop on her every conversation?
Lena was furiated. Grateful for her rumbling stomach and her hunger-induced foul mood, but also infuriated. She didn't need a nanny. She could handle a simple task as ordering food.
Maybe she really should have taken Jess on her offer of a temporary assistant. But she was still new to the city. It's barely been a year since she has moved to National City. She didn't take too kindly to people. Nor did she like dealing with those questioning stares and curious looks. The pity is the worse. She still had so much to prove that she was nothing like her brother. And she thought coming to National City and away from Superman's territory was the way to do it.
Never did she ever think that she would be in a situation with Supergirl such as the likes of this.
She sighed but took the salad anyway. She had a meeting in half an hour and she needed all the energy to get through it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The evening saw Lena picking up a plastic container of sushi and sashimi from her favorite Japanese place. A cup of Matcha green tea sat beside it.
She still didn't like it but took it anyway.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, she walked into her office and found the same croissants that Jess would get her every Friday. Fridays she almost always forgot to have breakfast. It was mainly due to the fact that Thursdays she had her international calls scheduled in the late hours of the night. Dealing with the other side of the world meant she had to call during their working hours. Which happened to coincide with 3 am for her. And Jess knew this. Which is why every Friday, Jess would get her breakfast to have on her desk while she read her emails.
Croissants and a banana kale smoothie is what she usually preferred. Which was what sat on her balcony table right in front of her. There was no sticky note this time.
"What on Earth is she on about?" she asked no one but herself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The noon was the same. A tap on her balcony door and a package of food delivered by National City's very own superhero.
Lena held the fruit salad bowl in frustration, "Do you deliver food to everyone in the city?" she shouted to the empty sky, feeling a bit stupid.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day’s evening when she found a plate of Fettuccine on her balcony, she was ready for a confrontation with the Girl of Steel. She had already picked up both her lunch and her afternoon coffee from the balcony like it had suddenly become a drive-thru window in her very own office.
She was very much confused at this point.
Was Supergirl that different from Superman?
She stabbed the pasta with her fork as thought hard about the most complicated question of her life.
Why was Supergirl delivering food to her?
Maybe this is some sort of benefit of National City that I wasn’t aware of. Some sort of agreement between Supergirl and the people of National City that she would deliver everyone’s food and they would... What? Give her free food in return?
Lena suddenly gasped.
Was I supposed to leave money on the table for her for delivering my food?!
She suddenly felt ashamed. Her cheeks burned with the realization that she was not paying for a service she was clearly using as she sat there eating the Fettuccine that Supergirl herself had delivered.
It was all so confusing and Lena was determined to get to the bottom of it. Which is why, the next day she arrived extra early to her office and began setting up.
She dragged her wooden coffee table all the way across her office and into the balcony. Then came the comfy armchair that she liked so much. She half expected it wouldn't fit through the balcony door, but it somehow did. A sane enough CEO of a multi-billion dollar company would have asked someone from the many employees she had to do the job for her.
But she was in a stubborn mood.
She then took out her laptop, placing it outside on the coffee table. Her printed copies of the annual financial reports. Her coffee cup and everything else she needed to do her work.
She was going to work from her balcony and catch Supergirl in the act.
She needed to understand the reasoning behind it all. Needed to see how much money she owed Supergirl. It just didn’t make sense that Supergirl was delivering everyone’s food without taking any sort of compensation!
And so she began working.
"Hello, Mr. Michaelson.” she spoke through her bluetooth earphones, using her hands to edit a paragraph in her speech while talking to the man. “Yes, it's me. No, my assistant is on vacation unfortunately. Where? Oh, umm well she went to Vancouver actually. Yes, yes, I agree, beautiful place. Now, as for our agreed upon dates for the project sc- Oh. Sure I could ask my assistant for you if Vancouver has nice Japanese restaurants."
She held her hand to the bottom of her phone and sighed audibly looking up to the sky and wishing Jess would just magically appear.
After almost an hour speaking to the old businessman, and not all of it spent talking about work, Lena almost whined when she saw her coffee cup empty.
"I'm gonna need a whole gallon of coffee to deal with more like him." she spoke out loud to herself.
Taking off her heels, she folded her legs neatly beneath her and balanced her laptop on the chair's armrest. She began typing out a detailed email to the finance department asking for a budget increase on the project.
It was less than ten minutes later that she noticed movement in the sky. When she looked up, she didn't find anyone. Frowning, she went back to work.
The next thing that happened would never have even crossed her mind. Dangling from her balcony ceiling was a thick string, securely tied to a cup of coffee, and coming down slowly as though someone was gradually letting more of the string go until the coffee cup would eventually reach Lena's brick railing.
Lena gawked at the coming down cup with wide eyes.
There was a coffee cup dangling from the roof of her balcony! Swaying from the wind and slowly coming down like a hookline of a fisherman.
After getting over her shock, Lena immediately got up, letting her laptop fall in her seat, "Hey!" she shouted, very unlady like of her. She planted both hands on her railing and cranked her neck to look up. The string went all the way up to the roof of the building and disappeared there.
"Excuse me? I would like to speak to you." she shouted towards the rooftop. "Thank you for the coffee but it's really not necessary for you to bring me food and drink everyday. I am more than capable of feeding myself." Lena blatantly spoke to the rooftop, looking more and more like a crazy person. Somewhere in the back of her mind she could hear Jess snicker at her words.
Capable of feeding myself, sure.
"Supergirl? Or whoever you are, I simply want to thank you personally if that's all right." Lena tried again, but still no answer.
And just like that she saw a flash of a red cape in the sky before it disappeared.
Why won't she talk to me?!
And then the answer came to her.
She probably doesn't have time. If she delivers food to everyone in the city, not mentioning the fact that she saves people left and right... Then. When does she have time for anything?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a fire. Lena was having a meeting with a client at a restaurant when the smell of smoke began to filter into the air. Suddenly, one of the chefs barged into the restaurant, coming from the kitchen and collapsed onto the floor. The smoke began to seep quickly into the restaurant and in under a few minutes it started to get harder and harder to breathe.
Unfortunately, for everyone inside, the restaurant was quite a large and crowded one with only one exit, aside from the kitchen exit that was probably blazing in a fire. Chaos erupted and everyone began stumbling towards the door to escape.
And just as suddenly as it had happened, Supergirl flew in and saved the day. She blew out the fire and began evacuating people quickly. Lena had been hunched over a table, coughing from the smoke and eyes watering. She felt herself be lifted off the floor suddenly and found herself in the arms of the blonde hero. Supergirl flew her to an ambulance that was administering oxygen to those who needed it.
"I'll be right back," she said to Lena before flying off to make sure no one else was inside the building.
Lena was checked up by a medic and was cleared. She felt a little dizzy but she didn't inhale too much smoke. She was however buzzing with energy.
Supergirl flew back down and nodded towards the fire chief shaking his hand and assuring him no one was inside. She smiled at the job well done and was about to go check up on the Luthor woman when...
"You!" Lena shouted angrily, pointing an accusing finger at her.
Supergirl turned to find the woman's narrowed eyes and immediately took a step back, terrified. Oh, yes. She was very much terrified.
Lena came up to her, her heels seemingly still making her look shorter than the well-built hero. But she was not intimidated at all, in fact she was angry. She was out looking for answers and she expected to find them.
She jabbed a finger in the hero's chest, "Why do you insist on feeding me?!" she accused, "What do you have to gain from it all, hmm?!" her eyes were predatory, filled to the brim with frustration.
"M-Ms. Luthor, I don't know what you're talking about." Supergirl stuttered.
"The coffees, and croissants, and sushi, and salads. All of it! Why are you bringing me food everyday? I'm not crazy, I've seen your cape flying about! I'm more than capable of feeding myself, you don't need to bring me food, Supergirl!
"M-Ms. Luthor, I believe there's been some sort of misunderstanding."
"I would just like to know why ?! I didn’t sign up for this service!"
"Ms. Luthor, can we please please talk about this when there aren't so many cameras a-and and..."
Lena jabbed her finger harder into Supergirl's chest, "You tell me right now!!" she barked.
"M-Ms. Luthor..."
"Why-" she punctuated her word with a harder jab.
"I really think-" Supergirl took a step back.
"Do you insist-" another jab to the chest and a step forward.
"It's just maybe this isn't-"
"On bringing me-"
"If we could just-
"Food!" Lena jabbed her finger harder to punctuate her question.
Supergirl seemed to make up her mind on something, nodding once to herself with a tight lipped smile, “Yup, you’re not gonna like this. I’m really sorry in advance.” she said
“Sorr-”
Supergirl bent down, fireman carried Lena on her shoulder and flew off into the sky.
Lena screamed immediately, her scream echoing in the city, “What are you doing?!”
Supergirl didn’t answer which immediately led Lena to believe that she was being kidnapped.
She started banging her fist on the Super’s back, kicking with her feet, “Why would you buy me food for days only to kidnap me in the end??!!” she shouted at the top of her lungs.
Supergirl made an accidental swoosh in the sky trying to balance the struggling woman in her arms, “What?! I’m not kidnapping you! Stop moving so much!"
"Stop kidnapping me then!!" Lena shouted.
"I'm not kidnapping you!!"
“Put me down this instant!"
Supergirl’s sight was blocked by a smooth thigh, and she was momentarily distracted with how it felt that when she refocused again she found a brick wall in front of them. She immediately turned full circle and redirected their course before slamming into the wall with a struggling woman.
Lena tried to thrust her knee into Supergirl’s nose, her plan was to maybe somehow break the unbreakable nose made of steel. It wasn’t her best idea, “Put me down!”
“I’m trying!” Supergirl shouted back, “Rao, woman, just calm down and let me take you where I’m taking you!
“So you are kidnapping me ?!!”
“What?! Why would I kidnap you?!”
“Then where are we going?!”
Supergirl flew down a little, holding on to the squirming woman as tight as she can. She dived beneath the ceiling of the balcony and safely landed with her two feet on the ground. “Here!” she voiced out loudly, “Your balcony!” she said as she set the woman down.
Lena Luthor wobbled on her feet and realized she was one foot short. When she looked down, one heel seemed to be missing. She looked back up, staring daggers into the hero.
Supergirl put her hands up in surrender, “Hey! In my defense it wouldn’t have fallen if you had just simply calmed down!”
Lena crossed her arms and discarded the other shoe before facing Supergirl, “Do you mind telling me what all of this is?”
“All of what is?” Supergirl deadpanned.
Lena rolled her eyes, “Oh for the love of...” she sighed. When she looked back to the other woman, she found her distracted, looking over the balcony. Lena was about to ask when she got her answer.
“Oh! Found it.” The hero exclaimed before jumping over the balcony railing and diving down to the street. Lena had a miniature heart attack, barely remembering that the woman wasn’t falling to her death.
Seconds later, the hero flew back onto her balcony with her missing heel, smiling widely, “Cinderella.” she curtsied and handed the show to Lena.
“Very funny.” Lena said sarcastically before taking back her precious louboutins. She placed it beside the other and faced Supergirl, “Explain, please.”
Supergirl gave an innocent smile, “Explain what?”
And Lena more or less lost it, “Explain to me why it is that you’re delivering my food? I’ve been trying to get you to talk to me for the past week so I could explain to you that I am perfectly capable of ordering my own food, thank you very much! I don’t know if this is a National City deal that you have going on, but I don’t want you delivering my food. Not to mention paying for it! Which reminds me, I owe you...”
"Jess and I are friends." Supergirl blurted out, cringing as though she wasn't supposed to disclose that particular piece of information.
Lena tilted her head in confusion, "Friends?"
Supergirl sighed, "Yeah. I saved her once from a bus flipping over while she was getting you coffee this one time." she mentioned casually, like a bus flipping over was the most normal thing in the world.
Lena's eyes widened, she choked on a gasp in her throat, "Bus... F-Flipping over?"
Supergirl however didn't notice her shock nor seemed to be listening. Her eyes were on her fingers, counting the number of times she had saved Jess, "And then there was that time when I saved her from getting caught in the crossfire of a shooting." Supergirl listed, as Lena watched in utter horror, "And the time those CADMUS guys came to take you, and she wouldn't let them through the door. So, they were about to attack her but she had already called me-" Supergirl paused, putting up her finger to add information, "I gave her my number after the third time I saved her. Anyway, so she-
"Num...ber?" Lena's mouth moved to form the word as she watched with wide eyes, still frozen in place.
"Called me and I came and took care of the two guys before anything happened. Which was a good thing because Jess told me you were in a very important meeting that day and you weren't to be disturbed. Not even by CADMUS goons coming to kidnap you apparently!" Supergirl giggled at that, only to continue her rant as though nothing happened.
"You'd be surprised how much that woman is a chaos magnet. Accident prone too! I once saved her from tripping and dropping two coffees, a stack of papers, a laptop under her arm, a box of pastries balanced over the stack of papers, and herself because she was talking to you and her heel got stuck in the pavement. It was almost a disaster, but I was near her and I managed to catch it all." suddenly Supergirl's face lit up momentarily as though she remembered something before it was replaced by a dopey grin at the memory, "She gave me a donut as a thank you I was really hungry that day."
Supergirl scrunched her nose in thought, "What else? Oh yeah! There was this time I saved her from-"
"OK, I get it!" Lena suddenly interrupted her, if she heard one more story about Jess' life being risked because she was out getting her coffee... "I get it. I need to give Jess a raise. Or buy her a house. Maybe even give her my office while I'm at it. God knows she deserves it!" Lena mumbled the last part. She had no idea what Jess went through to simply get her coffee. What kind of world do they live in?
Lena sighed, refocused herself, "What does any of this have to do with you delivering my food to me?" she asked.
Supergirl furrowed her eyebrows like she didn't remember, before gasping and lighting up with wide eyes, "Oh! Yeah, sorry." she chuckled, scratching the back of her neck sheepishly, "I think I lost track of the story a bit there."
That's the understatement of the year, Lena couldn't help but think
“So, umm, after I saved Jess a bunch of times we eventually became friends. She also figured out I was Kara, so I pretty much-”
“You’re WHAT?!” Lena all but gawked.
Supergirl froze, hand in mid-gesture. Her face seemed very very confused, eyebrows scrunched together and mouth forming an O. She tilted her head to the side, “Kara?”
“You’re Kara?!!” Lena demanded, admittedly much louder than she expected to utter the words. "The-The..." the reporter, the friend I made, the possible crush. "Kara Danvers?"
“Well, yeah. I thought it was kinda obvious...”
Lena opened her mouth and closed it several times with no words making it out. With wide shocked eyes, she observed the blonde closely. Blonde tresses framing her face, blue piercing eyes. She imagined a ponytail, a pair of glasses.
“Oh God.” she half whispered.
She was crushing on Supergirl the whole time.
For some baffling reason that Lena couldn’t seem to fathom, Supergirl looked more confused than she was.
“I thought you already knew.” she noted.
“How could I have possibly known?! I’ve met you twice !”
Supergirl flattened her lips and swayed her head on each side, “Actually, it was three times.” she corrected.
“That is not the point!”
Supergirl backed away, putting her hands up in surrender, “Okay, okay. Sorry.” she shrugged then, “I kinda just thought you knew but weren’t saying anything. I mean Jess figured it out almost instantly and you’re supposed to be super smart-”
When Lena gave her a threatening glare, Supergirl realized her mistake.
“I-I mean you are super smart.” she backed up immediately, “You know, you were answering my calls and you laughed at my flew here on a bus joke.”
“You were being serious?!!!” Lena shouted unladylike. She was doing a lot of unladylike things today that involved this situation she found herself in.
There really wasn’t any possible way for Lena’s jaw to drop even more.
“Well, obviously not at first. But when you didn’t ask about it and then we met again and I mentioned flying again, you were totally okay with it.”
“People say stuff!! I didn’t think you were serious! I just thought you had weird expressions!”
“Huh.” Supergirl looked up and thought about it, “I never really-”
“Look.” Lena stopped her before she went on another rant. She was getting a headache from all that was happening on this God forsaken balcony, “Can we please go back to the food delivery situation?” Lena pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Oh!” Supergirl perked up again, chuckling, “I guess a sorta lost track of the story a bit there.”
“You seem to have a habit of that.” Lena muttered.
“I heard that.” Supergirl grinned.
“I know.” Lena deadpanned.
Supergirl ignored her, “Where was I?” Supergirl thought out loud.
“Literally still at the beginning.” Lena deadpanned again. When she saw that Supergirl was still thinking about it, she sighed and reminded her, “You and Jess are friends after you had saved her numerous times. What - for the love of all that is good - has that got to do with you suddenly being my delivery person?”
“Jess asked me to.” Supergirl miraculously gave the answer in less than a thousand words.
“She did what?”
“She said that she was going on vacation and that she didn’t trust you to properly take care of yourself. So, I volunteered to help.”
Once again, Lena found her jaw dropping and eyes widening.
“She even wrote me an instruction list.” Supergirl casually mentioned, not at all noticing the blood-curling shock on the young Luthor’s face.
“She...She wrote you...” Lena tried to mutter.
Supergirl began fumbling around in her suit, “I swear I had it somewhere here.” She patted her cape, “Darn, must’ve left it in my other cape.”
It must be a dream. There’s no possible explanation at how more and more absurd this situation was becoming.
Supergirl shrugged before turning back to her, “Anyway, she wrote me a list of instructions. Which restaurants to pick up from on which days, what to get from each restaurant, allergies. Days on which you might miss breakfast at home, days when you’ll be working extra late for a late second dinner. Important meetings I shouldn’t interrupt, stressful meetings that need a double shot afterwards. She wrote the type of tea you like to drink when you’re working on contracts, and the Kale smoothie that you drink when it’s hot out.” Supergirl made a disgusted face at that, “She even specified food items you don’t like in your food, like pickles in sandwiches and green olives in your salads. And other food items to add that aren’t in the ingredients, like cashews on your salad and-”
“Fuck me, I don’t pay that woman nearly half of what she deserves.” Lena blurted out, sighing out loud.
Supergirl suddenly stopped listing things - another habit of hers - and looked at Lena with a shocked face, before looking down and playing with her fingers with wide eyes and a blushing face.
Lena had a feeling that it had everything to do with the fuck me aspect of her blutness. It wasn’t her fault! All of this was too much! Was she really that snobby rich CEO who didn’t know anything about her assistant's duties. She knew Jess’ job wasn’t easy, sometimes Lena found her job harder than her own, but she never knew it was damn near impossible!
Lena pinched the bridge of her nose again, and sat down on the armchair that she had pulled out on the balcony the other day. She was honestly afraid to ask - if this whole conversation was anything to go by, she’d probably get some bizarre answer that’ll probably spin her head - but she needed to know one more thing.
She looked up at the hero, who was still very much blushing at the fuck me statement. She rolled her eyes and asked her question.
“I still don’t fully grasp why you refused to speak to me while delivering the food to my balcony. In fact, you avoided speaking to me so much to the point that you dangled my coffee cup by a string.”
Supergirl pointed with a finger, “Not my finest moment, I admit.”
“So, why? Would it have been so awful for you to-”
"I just thought you wouldn't like me." Supergirl answered sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck.
And there it was. The bizarreness unleashed.
“I beg your pardon?” Lena cocked an eyebrow.
“I thought you wouldn’t really like me, you know, as Supergirl.” Supergirl replied again, kicking some non-existent pebble. “I can be a little awkward in front of beautiful, smart, brunette women. My sister always makes fun of me for it. Says it's my kryptonite. So, yeah. I figured to just drop off the food and just go. But then you had to pull that trick and work from the balcony so I had to improvise."
"You thought... You thought I wouldn’t like you?"
"Yup."
"Me?"
"Uhu."
"Not like you? Supergirl?"
"Pretty much, yeah."
Commence jaw drop once more.
“But you also thought that I knew that you were Kara Danvers?” Lena asked, the fact she even said that was still mind blowing. She was talking to Kara Danvers who was also Supergirl.
Supergirl shrugged, “Yeah, what about it?”
Lena furrowed her eyebrows together, “So why wouldn’t I like you as Supergirl if I like you as Kara, if you thought that I thought that you were the same person?” the question gave her a headache just saying it.
Supergirl’s eyes widened, “You like me as Kara?” she gasped out.
“Was that what you got out of that question?” Lena asked. She needed to redirect the topic away - very very much away - from the fact that she like Kara Danvers.
Who happens to be Supergirl.
Supergirl was still sporting a dopey grin at it, but then lit up when she remembered something else, “Also, Jess said that you don’t like people in general.”
“Jess said that I don’t like people.”
“No, she said something else. But I’d really rather not say that out loud to you.”
Lena crossed her arms, standing up and facing the Girl of Steel with steel eyes of her own, “What did Jess say?”
Supergirl pouted, “Do I really have t...”
Lena pushed her on with a raised eyebrow.
“But...But...”
Eyebrow seemed to go higher.
Supergirl sighed, “She said you were prickly.”
“ Prickly ?” Lena honestly expected something worse. Like bitch. Or monster workaholic.
“Yeah. You know, like a cactus. And that only people who really got to know you would find water inside. Or something like that. I can’t really remember. But she called you prickly.”
Suddenly, something began to beep from Supergirl suit. The hero hunched over and reached inside her red boot, taking her phone out.
Lena figure it must be some sort of emergency in the city. A fire, maybe. A bank being robbed. Someone needed saving. A car...
"Ooh, it's time for your 2 O'clock lunch!" Supergirl exclaimed.
Not that!
She expected sirens! Fire Trucks! People in danger! Not her 2 O’clock lunch!
“Oh God, I can’t believe Supergirl has a reminder on her phone for my lunch.” she whispered, falling back on the armchair, giving up on trying to come to terms with everything that had happened in the last half hour.
Supergirl was busy on her phone, typing something and mumbling to herself, “Today is tuesday, so that means it’s the...” she pursed her lips, typing more, before, “Okay, I just ordered your baby spinach salad.” She looked up at Lena, “Apple, pecan and honey dressing, right?”
“R-Right...” Lena stuttered. Supergirl was literally taking her lunch order.
This is a dream. There is no possible way that...
Supergirl nodded, “Okay, I’m just gonna go grab it. It’ll take me no more than a minute.” she said, shrugging.
“Uhh O-okay.” Lena said, still frozen at the idea of Supergirl going to get her her lunch.
Supergirl reached behind her, pulled out a bag that was ultimately tied to the inside of her cape it seemed, “Do you mind if I just leave my Potstickers, here?”
Seven. Lena counted seven times now that Supergirl had said something that had caused her jaw to drop.
“Did you just put off a fire, save countless people, and have this whole conversation with me with a bag of dumplings tied to the inside of your cape?”
Supergirl chuckled, “You’d be surprised how often I do that.” she said, “I’ll be right back.”
She flew away right before Lena managed to gather herself and utter a, “Take your time.”
A minute later, Lena felt her clothes ruffle from a bust of wind as Supergirl landed on her balcony once more. “One spinach salad with apple, pecan and honey dressing.” she smiled brightly, putting the bag on the table. She picked up her own bag of potstickers, “And I believe these lovely potstickers are mine.” she grinned, barely hiding her excitement.
Lena finally caught up with her everlasting shock in time to stutter out, "Would... Would you like to have lunch with me?" she blurted out.
Supergirl sported on a huge grin at the question, "Would I ever?!" she exclaimed, already sitting cross-legged on the coffee table like she had done so a thousand times.
Lena said nothing about the existence of chairs. She actually liked how at ease the hero was as she dug inside her takeout bag and pulled out a container of potstickers.
Lena shook out of her daydream, not wanting Supergirl to catch her staring and took out her own lunch. She looked up just as she opened her plate to find Supergirl had already stuffed three potstickers in her chipmunk cheeks. She giggled, causing the blonde to look up in surprise with wide eyes as though she had been caught once more without her table manners. She gulped down the unchewed contents and gave Lena a guilty smile with a cringe of her eyes.
Lena chuckled, “You’re very different from your cousin.”
Getting Ready For Bed Mid-Flight (Supercorp One-Shot)
There was some kind of competition. Lena and Alex both sought out to out drink the other in some geeky game that Kara wasn't in the mood to understand the concept of.
The two women of course chose the hard stuff. Not opting to go with beer or anything but rather - since Lena was buying - wagered on whisky instead. Kara watched as they downed glass after glass of the amber liquid until both of them could hardly keep their head up. No one was sure who had won their little game since both seemed to have collapsed around half of the seventh cup.
Kara had had enough when she saw Lena start to doze off on the bar counter and smile giddily at a similar Alex who was also dozing off on her arm draped across the counter. Maggie had called her to let her know what the two had been up to and Kara had promised she would be there as soon as she finished handing in this article to Snapper who was keeping her prisoner.
Upon arriving to the alien bar, Kara had found them somewhere on their fourth or fifth cup with Maggie rolling her eyes at them. Everyone else was only slightly drunk, except those two who were wobbling in their bar stools.
She gathered Lena in her arms, opting to fly her home instead of possibly running into some paparazzi that might take a picture of an enthusiastically drunk Lena Luthor. She said goodbye to her friends and to Maggie who was similarly walking a sleeping but giggling Alex in her arms and on her way to their car.
Kara flew off into the night, thanking Rao that the weather had warmed up this month and it wasn't too cold for Lena. Her wife buried her face deeper into her neck and moaned contently as she tightened her arms around her.
“Mmm this a nice place for a nap.” she mumbled sleepily, “I think... Think ‘m gonna get ready for bed now.” she then patted Kara's shoulder good-naturedly, “Thank you, kind flying human.”
Kara chuckled at her wife's slurred incomprehensible words, shaking her head at her ridiculousness.
“M'kay, time to get ready for bed.” Lena mumbled some more before suddenly flicking off her heels in midair.
Kara shrieked, her eyes snapped wide as she realized those heels were falling down and would probably land on some poor person's head.
While Kara was attempting to catch not one but two heels in midair and also holding on to the slouched form of her drunk wife, Lena somehow managed to snake a hand to her hip and unzip the long zipper there.
The dexterity on the woman! Even while drunk off her mind!
Kara had just enough time to grasp both shoes by their heels in one hand like she was holding a pair of champagne flutes, before Lena began shifting in her arms and shimmying her skirt down her hips.
“Oh Rao! No, no, no. Let's not do that, please!” Kara exclaimed trying to balance between holding a pair of heels, her wife, and pulling the skirt back up.
Some giggling sounded from where Lena buried her face in Kara's neck, and she swatted Kara's face with her full palm before scurrying some more in her arms trying - and failing - to pull her skirt off with her other hand.
“Lena! No! I can't...” Kara almost did a loop in the air, “I can't see!” She backflipped, almost dropping one of the heels but holding firmly to her wife.
Somehow, by some miracle, Lena was able to shimmy her skirt all the way to her ankles and Kara gulped when she was faced with lace black panties.
“Oh Rao! Out of all the days you could have worn those, you picked today!” Kara exclaimed as she fixed her grip on both heels and human.
Lena's hands snaked safely around Kara's neck but her head lifted up until she giggled in Kara's face and looked at where she unhooked one ankle from around her skirt and now that skirt was dangerously barely hardly hanging on by the heel of one foot.
Kara froze in the air, knowing that one wrong move would make that skirt fall down and Rao knows she only had two hands.
“Please, please, please.” she whispered, looking at the slipping form of fabric.
Maybe if she reached slowly with her left hand - that was both carrying a pair of heels and Lena's knees - then she could maybe just maybe, just possibly...
Just then, Lena flicked her foot as hard as she can causing the skirt to fly off above them and Kara to shriek and gasp while she herself laughed hysterically.
“Rao! Why on Earth and all other planets would you do...” Kara looked above her as she tried pinpointing where exactly the skirt would come speeding down. She hovered a little to the right, then to the left.
If she timed this correctly, she could catch the damn thing with her right hand that was just under Lena's back. But the only problem was, Lena fucking Luthor was squirming in her arms getting started on her blouse!
“Lena, you can't...” Kara looked down to find her pouting at the difficult button that refuses to open with her fuzzy brain. The superhero sighed in relief as she went back to surveying the blouse, finding it coming her way and in about five seconds it should land safely in her hand.
Almost there. Just a little more to the right aaaand....
Just then, seeing as trying to undo the buttons was too difficult, Lena grabbed both sides of her blouse and yanked it open, popping all the buttons out of their place.
“Wooooo!” Lena screamed ecstatically, happy to be free of those evil buttons.
“Holy Rao!” Kara screamed when she was met with a matching lace black push up bra that left nothing to the imagination.
The skirt landed on Kara's head as she was still frozen in place by a pair of lace underwear.
Thankfully, Lena managed to doze off right before taking off her shirt and Kara was able to fly them safely back to their apartment. She sighed as she gently placed Lena on the bed and began to open her blouse to slide off her shoulders.
“Buy a woman dinner first, Supergirl.” Lena smirked, but it came out lop-sided, eyes still closed.
“You were literally stripping for all of National City just minutes ago.” Kara replied.
Lena eyes half opened slowly. She lifted her head slightly to look at Kara from under the half opened part, “Sorry Supergirl. I know me and you,” she paused, a frown placed on her face, “you and I?” she paused once more, her frown deepening, “I and you?” she nods, finally content with the wrong grammatical phrase, “Yes. I know I and you always do that eye fucking thing but... But ‘m taken.” she barely mumbled out. She points her index finger up and starts shaking it left and right “Not single. Ma...” she began, but slowly frowned, “Was the word?
Kara arched an eyebrow, “Married?”
Lena's eyes widen as she gasped, “Yes! Maaaarried.” she tried the word, and then grinning when she seemed to like how it sounded.
Kara smirked, “Lucky woman.”
Lena suddenly grabbed Kara's face in her hands and gave her a serious but oh-so-hilarious look, “No! Lucky is I.” she jabbed a finger in Kara's chest. Kara was pretty sure she meant to jab it in her own chest but missed. “I'm the lucky one. You should meet my wife. She has yellow hair. Like you.” she smiled looking at Kara's hair.
Kara chuckled, “You mean blonde?”
Lena drops back on the bed, smiling as her eyes closed, “No. Yellow hair.” she whispered as though it was a secret.
“Alright, yellow hair it is. Let's get you out of this shirt so we could put on something more comfortable, ok?
Lena shakes her head and then frowns as a dizzy spell seemed to hit her. She grabs both ends of her blouse and yanked it closed, “Nope. Only wife gets to see boobs.”
Kara sighed, “Pretty sure all of National City saw your boobs...” Kara mumbled under her breath. She sighed once again before coming up with an idea, “Ok how about I call her for you?”
“Beyoncé?” Lena mumbled.
“No, your wife!”
“Mhmm. You should...” Lena started dozing off, “should do tha’.”
Not two seconds later, Lena half opened her eyes again and her whole face lit up, “Kara! I missed you!”
Kara chuckled, “I missed you too, baby.”
“Supergirl was tryna get in my pants - or...” she frowned, pouting her lips in thought, “My shirt. But I was strong!” her eyes widened, “Told her I was married. Doesn't matter how hot she is!”
“Oh? Well, that's... You showed her!”
Lena nodded happily before closing her eyes again and dozing off once more.
“I feel like I should be recording this to show you tomorrow or something.” Kara mumbled.
Lena's eyes suddenly snapped open, “Yes, yes! Let's make a sex tape! Always wanted to!”
Oh! I forgot to mention I still haven't posted it yet! But now that I know that you might be interested in reading it... I'll edit it quickly and post it tonight hopefully!
“Baby, we're going to be late.” Lena said in between kisses. “We can't. We ca...” her words died inside Kara's probing mouth on hers kissing her roughly.
“I don't care. My sister and her girlfriend can wait.” Kara muttered, her hands roaming Lena's body roughly, aiming to find any stretch of skin on her body. “Besides, double dates are no fun.”
“Says the person who has the most fun when we go on double dates with your sister.” Lena giggled.
Kara bent down to plant kisses onto the stretch of Lena's neck, “That's because there's food.”
Strong arms held Lena's waist protectively as Lena was backed into the side of their bed, the back of her knees hitting the edge and forcing her to fall into the mattress with Kara on top of her not faltering in her kisses.
Kara bit down on that spot on Lena's neck causing her to hiss through pleasure and pain. The blonde's demanding mouth worked its way back up to her lips, kissing her feverishly and smudging her pristine lipstick.
“Kara, do you know how long it took me to fix my makeup?”
Kara grazed her teeth along her jaw, “Way too long for someone as pretty as you that doesn't even...”
“You don't need to flatter me, darling, I already agreed to marry you.”
Kara stopped her demanding lips on Lena's neck long enough to move back and look her in the eyes. “I mean it.” she whispered onto Lena's lips, “You're the prettiest female I know.”
Lena quirked an eyebrow upwards, “Female?”
“I'm including the alien population as well. Woman doesn't cut it. You're prettier than any female in any species known to... Well known to anyone.”
“You say the sweetest things, darling.” Lena replied sarcastically, chuckling at the dopey grin on Kara's face. They settled down to looking in each other's eyes, drowning in blue and green and the love surrounding them.
“I love you. More than I'll ever be able to put into words.” Lena whispered lovingly, her hand reaching out and stroking Kara's soft cheek.
Another grin made its way onto Kara's lips, “Word on the street is you're pretty smart. I'm sure if you look hard enough in that gorgeous brain of yours you'll be able to find words that say how much you love me.”
Lena let out a small laugh, “You think my brain is gorgeous?”
Kara leaned down, capturing her lips for a brief kiss, “And sexy.” Lena giggled through their kiss as Kara tried to deepen it, “Stop laughing, woman, I'm trying to kiss you!” Kara demanded, finding herself just as amused as Lena.
“Oh, so now I'm a woman?”
“Do you really wanna be late because of a word technicality or because we were making out?”
“Making out,” Lena immediately nodded, pulling Kara down by her neck. “But...” she tried saying in between kisses, “Only five more minutes. I hate being late.” Kara interrupted her once again with a demanding kiss, her hands running up Lena's sides and gripping her rib cage possessively.
Ten minutes later, Kara's hands began looking for the zipper on the side of Lena's tight dress. She tugged at it only to be stopped by a hand pushing at her chest, “No no, baby, we can't.” Lena whispered breathlessly.
“Why not?” Kara tried again, tugging at the zipper and lowering her mouth for another kiss.
Lena groaned onto Kara's lips, “Mmm because as soon as you unzip my dress, we won't just be late, but we'll never make it to the restaurant to begin with.”
Kara trailed her lips onto Lena's jaw, grazing her teeth onto its edges, “Let's just cancel. Tell them I got sick.”
Lena giggled, “You're a Kryptonian. You don't get sick.”
Kara bent down further, planting kisses onto Lena's neck, “Well, they'll never believe that we missed our double date because you got sick.”
Lena pulled Kara's face upwards to look at her, “Well why not?” she arched a dangerous eyebrow.
Kara grinned, “Because everyone knows you're too stubborn to admit you're sick. Last time you worked late through a fever!”
Lena's eyes widened, “Well, there were... Important meetings that day. I couldn't just...”
“Baby, you worked late.” Kara laughed as she stated the obvious, “Through a fever. I'm not asking the impossible of you to take the day off, but you could've at least taken a half day. Or came home a little before when the night shift security guard arrived.”
Lena pressed her lips tight in guilt. She held Kara's eyes with her own and drowned in the affection she found with them. “I'm sorry, you're right. I should've stayed home that day.”
Kara gave her a shocked look, “OK, now you're just talking crazy!” she laughed before she was playfully shoved in the chest.
“I swear you're relentless sometimes!” Lena shook her head.
“Only sometimes? Now you're just hurting my feelings!” Kara replied, a shit-eating grin plastered onto her face.
She bent down and pecked Lena's lips softly before staring down at her lovingly. She couldn't believe this beautiful woman was her wife.
“Can we fake an emergency halfway through dinner?” Kara pouted as she asked, “I wanna come back and actually get to unzip your dress.”
“Seeing that we're already late, I doubt it wouldn't come off as somewhat rude if we just left halfway through dinner.”
“But have you seen this dress?” Kara asked incredulously, raking her eyes down the length of the skin tight dress that hugged all of Lena's curves, “It's practically begging me to take it off.”
Lena scoffed, “I’m sure it is.”
“I'm serious! Listen.” Kara paused, looking aimlessly upwards and pretending to listen to the nonexistent sounds of the dress, “Yup. It's saying please take me off. I'm begging you.”
Lena sighed dramatically, “I suppose it's my fault for marrying a dork.”
Kara chuckled leaned down to press a kiss to Lena's cheek, “If I remember correctly, It was my dorkiness that made you fall in love with me.”
“It was.” Lena admitted freely, laughing at the many kisses tickling her neck.
