Jason Sudeikis' uncle earned Emmy nominations six years running after getting started on Second City in his hometown of Chicago.
Remembering George Wendt 1948-2025
Actor George Wendt has died at 76. He was a Second City alum and brought his comedic chops to two iconic TV characters: Norm on Cheers (NBC 1982-1993) and Bill Swerski of the Superfans on SNL (multiple appearances from 1991-2003). Both were LOL scene-stealers as lovable barfly Norm on Cheers (he appeared in every episode) and as the Chicago sports-loving Superfan host on the SNL sketch. Speaking of SNL, he was also the uncle of SNL alum Jason Sudeikis.

Other notable performances includes No Small Affair, Fletch, Gung Ho, as himself in a 1992 episode of Seinfeld, Outside Providence and The Climb (read my review here). He also appeared in some music videos including Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" and Michael Jackson's "Black or White".
