LYNXLEYYYY
I haven't watched the movie yet, but all I have seen lately it's about this guy and how much everyone simp for him, justifies, or hates him.
in my case, i have never drawn a lynx before so i was curious
While there's no excuse for the crimes he committed and deserved prison, there's something absolutely tragic to bring up about Pawbert that his life must’ve been a lot worse prior to even the events of the first movie. He was the least favorite of the family and yet, he still craved his family’s approval despite how toxic and cruel they truly were. He also displays disturbing signs of superficial charm, hiding a sociopathic and narcissistic personality. He is devoid of any true empathy, only knowing about the basics of somebody based on little information. He also comes across even prior to the reveal of his true nature as rather shallow and distant. He values the cold and distant vibes of his family over genuine warmth/kindness and this attitude from his vile family over the course of his life has twisted him into a cold-hearted murderous sociopath.
It also doesn’t help that his family have psychologically and even physically abused him and he genuinely believes this is normal despite how genuinely frightened he is in scenes where his family hurt him regardless. What’s even sadder about Pawbert’s life is he could’ve gotten actual psychological treatment earlier in his life so he would end up having a normal childhood but instead, he was being used for cruel work meant to undermine the city he has lived in for years and he could’ve genuinely had friends who cared about him instead of clinging to his cruel family who clearly don’t care about him and just use him for whatever they need to get done. To say Pawbert desperately needs psychological help and a restraining order away from his abusive family in order to help him adjust into a mentally healthier life for himself is a severe understatement.
The sheer fact that Pawbert normalizes his family’s abusive behavior is especially heart wrenching, because there are plenty of abuse victims who legitimately don’t see anything wrong with their loved ones hurting them and are completely brainwashed into thinking they themselves are the reason why they’re abused.
To make matters worse, Milton only saw his own children as tools rather than family members and didn't seem to care about their safety like when he used them as living shields against Winddancer like the pathetic coward he really is. The fact that for all of their own mistreatment of him, they actually look worried for Pawbert when Milton starts to get violent with him could imply that they too would've turned out better if they weren't raised (if not abused) into their current mindset.
The scene where Milton manhandled Pawbert is actually hauntingly realistic of a sibling’s real-life scenario in abusive families. In some abusive dynamics, there are cases of children who let their siblings take the heat as a survival mechanism so they can avoid getting beaten themselves. Sometimes, there are even cases of the siblings following their abusers’ leads just so they don’t face the same fate. Just the idea that Cattrick and Kitty could have been conditioned into becoming the bullies they are today as a result of their father’s pre-meditated cycle of abuse is just heartbreaking.
Pawbert is called into visiting room, where there's no barrier, he already knows who it is, because there's only one animal he can communicate with without glass, as he sits down on the chair, door opens…
Gary crawls inside, he has a waist bag on, and his blue scales shimmering in light of the light, but his bright scales have faded, he still has small scars on his head and eye from the broken bottle, but he smiles, already with two of his fangs. It's a weak smile, but still a smile, his eyes light up when he sees Pawbert, though deep within them, there's still a certain anxiety he's hiding
Gary crawls toward the table where Pawbert is sitting, before lynx can speak, he "sits" at the table and starts chattering Hello, partner! How are you? I hope you've been well treated here, and I'm also sorry I haven't visited in a while, because …
Gary trails off, as if he's somewhere else, but then he shakes his head, shaking off his thoughts, and says Eh, anyway, everything's business as usual for me! Just wonderful! Tell me what interesting things happened while I was gone Gary strokes his chin against his tail, and looks at Pawbert with his large, intrigued eyes
"Hello Gary," Pawbert glances over to the guards as if he was afraid one of them would suddendly attact them. "we have lots of things to discuss, firstly remember that mongoose who kidnapped you? He is dead now. I hope the killer only hated that guy and does not become a serial murderer or something like that."
Pawbert hesitates before he continues speaking.
"I recently got asked if snakes also sometimes are in poly relationships or if that was more of a mammal thing so I have to ask, if you were for example with me in an relationship would you dislike if I had another partner?" Pawbert is visibly uncomftable while asking this question.
Today's WIP / preview: I slightly edited the lyrics of "Nobody's Son" by Sabrina Carpenter to make the song about Pawbert
Possible spoilers, I guess, if you read into the lyrics!
