Every time an American show mentions Supermax this is what I, as an Irish person, am picturing-
I am literally sitting in Supermac's waiting to see how people get rid of their trash.... Like do I get up and throw it out myself like in the States or just leave it??? People are just sitting.... Are we all just awkwardly waiting??? What is this liminal place?? And I in the Otherworld on accident??? Wat
Popular in Ireland
Status Post #11056: The restaurant in question? Supermac's.
Our supermacs in town in Limerick has security guards thankfully. Although it still seems a popular place to sniff lighter fluid. On another note, Do any other counties have Chicken Hut?
“Yes hello I’d like a Mighty Mac, fries, and a small Lighter Fluid please.”
These are the Supermac’s Vouchers of Wealth. Reblog and you will always have food money on a night out.
THERE’S EVEN A SUPERMAC’S ON INISHMORE
Do I just repulse all the fun? I seriously don't understand how I have THE worst timing ever. So the last couple days have been pretty drab, but last night we decided to go OUT. We were going to go clubbing, but the Irish girls we were planning to go out with decided to stay in, and there was no way we were going to be 2 foreign girls in a crowded night club. So we thought we'd try going to this masquerade ball the International Society was putting on. We didn't have a mask, nor did we have an appropriate dress, but we "clothed" ourselves in typical clubbing garb and heels and made haste to The Stables....where there were like 5 people all wearing jeans and just sitting at the bar. So not a masquerade. We ran into a couple of friends on our walk back home, and were convinced to join them out to The Lodge nightclub. I mean we were dressed for the occasion and had free passes, so why the heck not. We get to The Lodge, where we had previously witnessed large groups of drunken Irish 20-somethings scamper out of taxi's in very small pieces of clothing and very tall heels, and hasten into the club. That's what we were expecting. Based on everyone's reviews, that was just a typical night there. But we arrive in our get-up, and every single person is wearing jeans and rugby jerseys. Oh cool, the one time in the universe the Irish girls decide to not dress up is the one time in the universe I decide to dress up. Sweet, so we get in and it's not even packed at all. No one is even dancing. The music is like straight from the 80's, with random Bollywood-Britney Spears remixes thrown in. Oh my gosh, is this really happening? The first time we went out on the town we ended up at the docks (where the local prostitutes make work), and ended up walking all the way to city center, just to barely get in to an overpriced bar with yet another lame American music cover band. The best part of that night was ending up at Supermac's, the Irish version of McDonalds. I won't lie, it was well worth the trip downtown just to experience that greasy goodness, but it wasn't the night out I was hoping for. The second time downtown was way too expensive and also ended with a lame, empty nightclub. The bars prior to the club were nice though, and it was fun to go out with some Irish people instead of just Americans for once. However, the fact of the matter is that I would very much like to experience a decent time at a nightclub, with decent music!!! Is that so much to ask?!
Whatever. I haven't given up hope, nor have I regretted any of our attempts at experiencing Irish nightlife. Instead of bumming out about it, we usually just end up making food/ending up at Supermac's. Last night it was a seriously bomb omelette at 1:30am.
