Total Lunar Eclipse]
The last time in North America that a Blue moon coincided with a total lunar eclipse: March 31, 1866.
What happened 9 months before March 31, 1866??
What happened in 1863??
A total lunar eclipse took place between September 27th and 28th, 2015. It was seen Sunday evening, September 27th, in the Americas; while in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, it was seen in the early hours of Monday morning, September 28. It was the latter of two total lunar eclipses in 2015, and the final in a tetrad (four total lunar eclipses in series). Other eclipses in the tetrad are those of April 15, 2014, October 8, 2014, and April 4, 2015.
The Moon appeared larger than normal because the Moon was just 59 minutes past its closest approach to Earth in 2015 at mid-eclipse, sometimes called a supermoon. (source: wikipedia.org)
The blood moon was shot with a Canon 5D mark III and Magic lantern in RAW. Lens 70-200mm with a 2x extender.

The supermoon eclipse
The moon was blazing last night, as close as close gets, until, slowly, it was swallowed by the shadow of us. My neighbourhood was hollow and empty. I wondered why people were not out in the streets, crowding for a view. The city would have rumbled in the din of their voices, and great clouds of breath would lift into the chilly air. We could have made something of it, turned off all the lights so we were not polluting the skies.
