You’re halfway asleep when Sam starts to run his fingers through your hair. The motel bed creaks under the weight of your body when you shift to lay your head on his shoulder. He’s quiet when he chuckles, noise muffled by the fact that he leans over to press a kiss on the crown of your head. Your hair smells like vanilla, cheap shampoo and the leather interior of the impala.

“Sleepy, baby?” You hear him ask quietly, voice honeyed and nose nuzzling against your forehead. You can’t even reply; your muscles are relaxing against him, your eyes closed and you’re ready to drift over into dreamland. Though, you nod your head at Sam’s words. Your boyfriend hums quietly, his fingers coursing through your hair gently and softly, taking his time to scratch at your scalp to help you fall asleep completely.

His head moves so he’s able to press a soft and warm kiss onto your forehead, making you hum of contentment. This moment is the most precious and perfect one; there’s no doubt about the fact that sam loves you and you love him back. There’s no thoughts about creatures, demons and angels. no need for researches, for hunts or for anything else. it’s just Sam and you right now.

“You should sleep baby, I’m right here, okay? I won’t move away.” Your boyfriend ends up by saying, voice quiet and echoing in your ear like a melody—a lullaby that brings you closer to the arms of morpheus. You nuzzle your face in his neck; it’s warm. his body is a furnace of safety, of love and peace. There’s nowhere else you’d rather be in that moment.

Sam hums quietly under his breath, finger nails softly scratching at your scalp, massaging it, rubbing the back of your neck from time to time. “I love you so much, baby.” He murmurs at you, and you can only mumble an answer to that, vaguely telling him how much you love him back. That makes him chuckle quietly before you feel his lips on your forehead again, pressing a little kiss onto your skin.

Morpheus welcomes you after that, leaving you sleeping with your face in Sam’s neck while he keeps playing with your hair like it’d physically hurts him to stop. Right here, with you in his arms; this is where he feels the most at peace. Nothing can hurt, nothing can break him at that moment, because you’re right where he needs you. Because Sam loves you.
