Its the little moments like this that really get me when we look back on Sam and Dean's childhood.

We see what Dean had, what he remembers and what he lost.

But we also see what Sam never got, and why he never really understood Dean and John's bond. Because Sam never did get to "toss around a football", and he never knew what it was like to have a dad that would do that.

It's a devastatingly small thing, and it makes such a difference in how Sam and Dean view family. Cause Dean knows what its like to have that life, and he fights for it. Sam has only ever had the dad that's a soldier.

And they both have something to be jealous of there, cause Sam wishes he had these normal memories to hang onto but for Dean? Sometimes he's jealous that Sam never knew any other life, cause he has nothing to miss.
