Hank: Steve? It's Hank Pym. You've probably noticed, but we've got a situation...
Brothers-In-Arms | @Steve
The last two weeks or so had been tough for Hank. Between rupturing or breaking a pop quiz list of things that should never be ruptured or broken, and receiving the unwelcome news that he - or rather, Yellowjacket - was partly responsible for Emma Frost's offspring... well. He could remember better times in his life.
But the revelation about Ultron was different. His own injuries, his own demons, were one thing; his second greatest mistake coming to wreak a totalitarian vendetta on everything he held dear was another. There was no way he could overcome this alone; no way whatsoever. His shoulders just weren't broad enough to take on the weight of an opponent like that, the responsibility of protecting so many people, and there was no guarantee the strength of one man fighting alone would outlast the endless endurance of a machine. Fortunately, however, shoulders got a whole lot stronger when there were more of them to share the load...
Hank would have been lying if he'd said he hadn't picked up the note of weariness in Steve's voice on the phone. Cap... No - it was Commander Rogers, now, wasn't it... was a leader; the very best; but he was a husband now, too, and an expectant father. That had to take its toll, even on a soldier. The Doctor sat waiting to be sent through to the man's office, contemplating the clock across the other side of the room and thinking. God, he hated to have to do this... hated to be the one to bring this to Rogers' desk. All around him, the evidence of Loki's attack on SHIELD was still prevalent, a mess that would already be taking up a good deal of the Commander's time. But when Ultron came, when he finally arrived - and who knew how long they had before he did? - the chances were it wouldn't just be Hank he would come after. The Avengers had thwarted him before. They might all end up in the line of fire if it meant achieving the vengeance Ultron desired against his 'father'...
The voice of the assistant sending Hank through roused him from his thoughts and he thanked her, pushing himself to his feet. With a grim kind of resignation, he headed across to the office doors and pushed one open to step inside. Perhaps Steve would be happy to see his old teammate alive and well after their brief encounter during Loki's attack; Hank just wasn't so sure how long that sentiment would last once they'd finished this discussion...
Steve...
I just heard. Coulson's in Intensive? Is it true?
Attention all SHIELD and Avenger Initiative Members:
Doctor Saunders would like to give you an update on the condition of Agent Phil Coulson:
Agent Coulson was attacked last night during the SHIELD bombing and brought quickly to SHIELD care. Along multiple stab wounds he had several energy burns on his back, the knives that were lodged in his chest did cause some internal bleeding and one of them did puncture his lung, causing it to collapse. He came through his surgeries relatively stable but we were forced to put him into a medical induced coma in hopes that it will allow him time to recover, but unfortunately for now we will have to list his condition as critical.
if any would like to sit with him, they are allowing visitors, no more than two at a time to see him down in medical. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
As for casualties, we have minimal in light of this attack, I firmly believe that it was from the efforts of men like Phil Coulson that prevented such a catastrophe from being more of a disaster. Thank you.
Coulson had been in his office when the explosions started.
Pulling his gun from his holster he walked out into the hallway, it was pure chaos, he started barking orders immediately into his radio as he tried to push himself through the crowd, did they have training for this? He wanted to slap people into shape.
"Do we know what hit us?" Coulson asked a tech that was aiding a co-worker out of a blown room.
"No sir, we were working and then suddenly. . ."
"Get him down to sick bay then get your ass back up here, you have training you know what to do." Coulson nodded at the tech who nodded back.
"Someone get me Commander Rogers."
