Some digital doodles for you
I feel like Monica and Vulc's ToyAgumon son could grow up to be this Justimon, specifically.
Because this is what being raised on Agent Alpha would do to a Digimon.
[ID: two digimon playing cards, both are of the same thing but the first is in english and the second is in japanese. The image on the cards is of the digimon SuperStarmon, whose body is star shaped and wearing pointed sunglasses, with white gloves and pants with red stripes on them, surrounded by lights and possibly on a stage. The text on the card reads: Play cost 6, digivolve cost 2, digimon, DP 7000, level 5 SuperStarmon. END ID]
Personally, I like to think that Gankoomon is Nanimon’s final form after reaching its full potential. Thematically it makes enough sense, seeing as Nanimon is essentially a cartoonish caricature of a middle aged man, though exaggerating negative traits, whereas Gankoomon is a more idealized depiction of a strong, stern, yet down to earth fatherly figure. One of Gankoomon’s signature attacks is even called “Quake! Blast! Fire! Father!”
This brings to mind some other examples we’ve seen of “trash” digimon breaking free from their limitations to digivolve into much stronger forms, like with Vegiemon > Vademon > Ebemon, or Sukamon > Etemon > KingEtemon.
And knowing Nanimon’s backstory, being a Tamagotchi refugee who sought to become stronger through rigorous training and kicking old bad habits, seeing him become Gankoomon, a strong and noble self-made warrior who travels the world to strike down injustice wherever it’s found, just makes me kinda proud of that ridiculous man-ball. lol
But anyway, this is a possible digivolution line in at least one piece of official media, with SuperStarmon being the intermediate stage. And I do think SuperStarmon definitely fits, having certain visual similarities to Nanimon, namely the sunglasses, and the gloves and boots look similar enough. Makes me think of Nanimon developing into something that’s more flashy and superficially “cool” before he reaches his full potential.
Though obviously before Gankoomon came about, the official digivolution line would be Nanimon > Digitamamon, which fits because it’s a Tamagotchi reference digivolving into another Tamagotchi reference, lol. But I’ll consider this to be simply an alternate possible digivolution sequence. In fact I think I’d prefer Digitamamon in SuperStarmon’s place, acting as a sort of “cocoon” stage before hatching into Gankoomon, but I digress.
Anyway, yeah. Just my two cents. lol
Also, here’s a better look at Gankoomon, since that official artwork up there is so low-res.
SUPERSTARMON! I was really jazzed to get this commission since it’s been years since I drew a Digimon. I was super excited to get back into it!
