Day 2 (Dear Intern Diary )

Dear Intern Diary,

Finally, I had a graphic art task: make a sign for construction material on vinyl dboard. Yes, it took me a little while on how to make a simple task, but I made it! Once I finished, my supervisor – who I finally met in person (Previously, on Dear Intern Diaries “Day 1.2”: she had the flu) - taught me that day on how to save the document for web and devices and if the client approves, I also learned how to save it as a Tiff document for printing process. Later, when document was saved, I had to go to the guys from the print department and one of them had to show me how the machinery works. Lastly, I had to learn about the process when giving them the documents that they were going to print, also giving instructions when it comes to materials and such (in this case, it had to be a vinyl with grommets). When I finished with the first task, the boss gave me instructions to create a design for their Instagram page on Valentine’s Day. Basically, the rest of the day at work was about searching ideas for that.

Day 1.2 (Dear Intern Diary)

Dear Intern Diary,

In my first day of work, I already know everyone and kinda knew what I was going to do that day (Previously, on Dear Intern Diary “Day 1?”: I was supposed to work on that day, but I couldn’t because I didn’t knew I was going to actually start working that day and my mother was waiting for me outside... Oops?). And that day, everyone had the flu. The boss, two of the three men who prints and works in completions and my supervisor. It was funny, because all of them looked super weak and adorable while walking with their jackets and pink noses and everything. Anyways, one of the big guys on the printing process gave me lessons: the materials that they work, a general explication on how they use the printer, how to make a fabric banner, how to put grommets on a fabric banner. So, he showed me how make a sign of crossing streets made of fabric and using grommets, and it was fun really. It took me almost two hours to do it, but I made it, and it was awesome. Honestly, I kinda liked my first day. The best part, I caught the flu, three weeks later.

Day 1? (Dear Intern Diary)

I was accepted at this job, and they wanted me -next time when we met again- to do the paper work for my intern application in that place. So there I was, arriving at the place, nobody except one of the graphic artists was there to welcome me -the boss and the other guys were outside having lunch, but they were at their way to arrive at work-. Meanwhile, I started asking to the artist: how does it feel to work in this place, if they have a routine for work, how did he got the job and many other questions. Turns out, he was an intern himself and after finishing the hours of intern, they wanted him to stay. 

Finally, the guys from work finally arrived and they were so excited to have me there, and that they can’t wait to start the work on that day. I honestly didn’t expected to start working that day, my mom was actually waiting for me outside already like for an hour and I had to tell them what was up. Because they were all excited to start that day, they had it all planned out and all of a sudden they know everything and they apologized for making me wait a little and I also apologized and all of a sudden EVERYONE was apologizing to each other. The point is, that day was supposed to be my first day, but it wasn’t...
