“C’mon mom, I just came home.” Samantha mumbled under her breath. Usually, she’s her perky self when she’s around her mother. But this time is one of the many exceptions. She has barely been home for a week and her mother was already asking her if she had plans to settle down. And like a mother from a regency-era romance novel, she already had a list of potential single men she would love to set Sam up with.
“You’ve been here for almost a month—” Her mother started, which she quickly interrupted. “A week, mother.”
“Such a long time.” The older Rosenburg tsked at her. Sam shook her head and took a step forward as the they neared the register. It was almost them and it made her turn to her mother to ask what she wanted but her mother was looking — or rather smiling mischievously — “What are you looking at?”
“Wesley!” Her mother waved, motioning someone over. “Can’t believe I ran into you!” Her mother’s fake sweet voice, made her groan and turn the other way. It was surely someone her wanted to match with her.
