trying so hard to do my part in keeping the isaac fandom alive but i have like 20294737491 hw assignments preventing me from actually working on my fic (fuck u professor i don't need u to slide us 20 new proofs EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY)
anyway here’s a oc board for tenley from my fic (here u go if u haven’t read it yet, and YES I’M WORKING ON MORE PARTS I SWEAR)
and some bonus thoughts/headcanons i have for this fic that may or may not ever be mentioned again:
the nightshades have their own rock(ish) band! bianca on vocals, divina on keyboard, kent on drums, ajax on guitar, tenley on bass. i think isaac would hang around while they practice and very contemplatively try to find the deeper meaning behind their music
the group also absolutely plays mario kart 8 together with the game projected on tenley's dorm wall (shoutout to my old roommates and our friend group, one time we were so into the game we got written up for a noise violation……at 2am). i feel like kent would win a lot, he gives off that vibe. they would invite isaac to join, but he would keep crashing tf out bc he's lowkey js an old man that can't get the hang of the joycons
tenley and ajax definitely get lit and stoned together (LMAOO get it??) and isaac ALWAYS complains abt the smell (he's actually js not a fan of them spending time alone together, he’s welcome to stay and keep them company but he refuses to do that and js stays mad)
compared to her friends, tenley is the least skilled at fencing but the most aggressive, i.e. she's prob won't duel with you unless you got on her nerves (which is with 99% certainty bc she found out you said some shit abt isaac). she likes practicing (aka goofing off in the arena) with ajax but is terrified at the idea of seriously training with an expert like bianca
Someone asked what the chaise lounge that Ravio and Link are about to get would look like, and for ease of sharing I decided to put some reference images in a tumblr post.
Most of these were found by using the search term "Victorian Rococo Méridienne." I like the woodwork on the greyscale and white photos, the length of the red one, and the height of the peach example.
They don't really match the aesthetics of the rest of the setting, but they are relatively close to Madam Couture's chair. We'll just say that Ravio hired a Hytopian craftsperson.

my headcanon sketches/drawings of the Miyano family! (+ two terrible men who escaped my brain, just ignore them it'll be ok i promise)
all are as depicted in my canon divergent fanfiction
going into this, i had the core goal of making both Akemi and Shiho not look too much like their mother, seeing as International Agent Shuichi Akai would fucking notice if the girl he's dating is visibly his own damn cousin. As such, my Akemi very heavily takes after her father; and even Shiho Sherry with her sharp nose and wider jaw is not so easy to recognise (and would've been even less so when Akai encountered her years ago, when she was a teenager).
close-ups and more commentary below!
the parents!
Eleanora 'Elena' Serafim was quite estranged from her older sister Marianne 'Mary'. She spent most of her youth while in the UK trying to distance herself from the assertive and overreaching Mary; initially physically and with different hobbies/friend groups (in fact, El didn't have many friends compared to the very popular Mary), and later by chosen profession.
Atsushi meanwhile came from underprivileged circumstances and only managed to get into higher education thanks to a sponsorship from everyone in his neighbourhood pitching together, which gave him to means to attain a scholarship co-funded between the Japanese government and a private corporation that was interested in supporting aspiring young scientists.
Atsushi and Eleanora met during their studies at Cambridge. Atsushi started with a BMed but switched to a MSc; while Eleanora was always pursuing a pure science path.
There is more to their story (between failed pregnancies and increasingly unfortunate work placements) but to expedite the report: by 1991 Elena 'Absinthe' Miyano was a Chief of Research & Development of the Black Organisation in Tokyo, and her husband Atsushi 'Madeira' Miyano her right hand, liason to the rest of the company, and in charge of the medical wing in particular. They had one daughter, an adopted science experiment, and a second child on the way.
In 1999 the two parents died in a terrible accident. The details cannot be disclosed without Black Label clearance or higher.
the two (2) daughters!
Akemi Miyano (27 in summer 2010) inherited a lot more of her father's features, while Shiho (18 in summer 2010) takes more after her mother's side. (This might loosely apply to their personalities too, oops,,,,)
In addition to the point i mentioned above (Akai has, like, eyes and a partway functioning brain) I also thought this character design choice might contrast thesen two very different sisters in some interesting ways. If you're a reader of my silly "little" (c 280k words at time of posting) fanfic, you can see that contrast especially in this chapter :3
In terms of timeline, I've shuffled a few things around. I won't get too into things that might count as potential spoilers for my fanfic premise (lmfao) but suffice to say we're getting plenty of time with Akemi in the story. (And after that, plenty of time without her, too. huhuhuh...)
ladynoir is my favourite combination out of the love square so i appreciate what the film was going for but i WILL say that it doesn't really hit as well without the rest of the dynamics being fleshed out
adrien and marinette's friendship is especially important so especially jarring in how non-present it is in the film, but even hero-civilian interactions would have been nice. they were pretty rare in the show too (at the point i forgot to keep watching, anyway) but that just made me even more hyped when they did happen
the whole dramatic irony aspect of the mess their secret identities created is what makes an identity reveal impactful and there's just more room for that in a whole show than a poorly paced tbh two hour film. hopefully that actually happens in the show, because apparently it hasn't yet? sad
In the eve of the Old Kingdom's decadence, noticed by few to coincide with the first appearances of the Sky children, whispers of a strange illness was heard from the infirmaries of the Forest-- Darkblight, it was called by astonished medicine-men and scholars alike, as it bore an eerie semblance to the matters of Darkness.
Though exposure to pure flames and diligent treatment eased the ailment, sometimes even curing it entirely, not many of Horizon's people had the good fortunes of surviving from and with Darkblight. Their innards are twisted and overgrown with Darkness, and their tongues would find it a regular occurence to taste bitter blood with each breath taken.
The one culpable for Darkblight's prevalence, however desperately hidden by the King's court and the elite of Horizon, was the dependency of the Kingdom to Darkstone technology. It was painfully obvious-- Fragile beings weren't meant to be exposed to knowingly malignant materials for long, and it didn't even take weeks for the plucky observant to notice and voice their concerns.
Thus, in addition to the growing instability at his every turn, King Resh would find his evenings filled with his own people trampling his gardens, demanding justice for the loved ones they had lost to the jaws of Darkblight.
Day by day, by night and day again, their numbers grew and their voices becoming louder still-- Even to the point of stirring a young monk to leave his station behind, to cry out in honor of the grief that gripped his very being.
But they could never be as loud as that fateful destruction, that day the Diamond rose from its chambers.
