Finally got a chance to check out the stunning Modern Velvets show at @artinstitutechi ! This panel by Mathevon and Bouchard (1860/80) is an example of silk and cotton twill weave with supplementary cut pile warps. Mostly I want to rub my face all over it but don't worry, I know better. And here is the follow-up comparison between the top O and the bottom O. Same change in what I wove as in the last photo, with changes to the X. I think the shortened, tighter designs make more sense. I think this band is destined to be my *learning* and *experimenting* band. Take the X at the top and the X at the bottom of this picture. I definitely like the top one better (and one friend of mine already chimed in who likes the bottom one more).
