It??? manifests in his extreme white knight syndrome, where he literally thinks he does no wrong, and in his fixation on Bruce because he wants to be ten times the hero he is. It's extremely vague and was written in a time where mental illnesses were more or less sensationalized, so- If you want a positive portrayal of someone struggling with schizophrenia, I'd really recommend talking to Thysto about it because they've put a lot of effort into working with Hugo's canon to make a well rounded disabled man. Sorry about the rant bTw I have a lot of strong feelings about mental illnesses and how the Batman comics brush over them and generalize people with them as 'psychotic bad people!' QuQ
NO IT’S CHILL I FEEL THE SAME WAY. I try to do that with Tommy because I really hate how they skim over his symptoms and paint him as motivated by money and generally not having a valid reason for feeling the way he does??
and i hate that the comics tend to slap on a lot of problems and call these characters crazy and put them in arkham, but never bother to go into depth with what they’re dealing with?? wHICH IS ACTUALLY KIND OF WHAT I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT WITH THAT ORIGINAL POST? idk if it came across that way like i meant it to, but i wasn’t bagging on hugo so much as the writing. AND also that i somehow managed to not have that key concept to the game spoiled for me after all this time, that you’re like literally......... in an internment camp type thing..... somehow i didn’t know that for like the 4 years it’s been out
BUT ABOUT HIM: i was annoyed bc they were kind of making him irredeemable and evil, and that had me like wtf? and they did the same thing with harvey from what i can tell, just simplified the f out of him, had him cursing at selina and pursuing her over petty things mEANWHILE ARKHAM CITY IS THIS CORRUPT YET SOMEHOW LAWFUL STRUCTURE THAT DOESN’T BOTHER HIM??? WHICH MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE HARVEY DENT LITERALLY BECAME A ROGUE TO DEAL WITH CORRUPTION IN A WAY HE COULDN’T AS D.A.?? but no clearly he needs to beat up seliners bc she made him look a fool....... or something. and arkham knight did the same thing to tommy in his small appearance - simplified and villainized him. i haven’t gotten to roman’s parts in city and i haven’t watched origins, but from what i do know, it seems they kind of did the same thing to him (and they did the same thing in the comics, turning him from borderline cult leader with obvious psychosis into a plain mobster)
