So Catherine Middleton is championing a campaign for early years support, which is all well and good

But we literally had the Sure Start scheme!

Sure Start was exactly this, until successive tory governments defunded it and forced councils to close 100s of services because, in their great wisdom, they determined that austerity would save us all

Tories didn't want to feed kids during a pandemic, now A Royal has announced a new discovery that it's important to take care of children actually, and everything's alright again. All because doing this for the sake of patronage and charity is noble, but as a matter of public policy, it is not🙃

Sure Start and PCCs show the need for political reform, but unless the reform happens we will continue to waste large amounts of public money! On Monday on ‘Start the Week’ on Radio 4 the programme included Naomi Eisenstadt who spoke about the work carried out under the Labour Government between 2007-2010 on the SureStart programme, which was inspired by the American HeadStart Programme.

In this podcast I talk to Lucy Best who is the founder of ‘Friendly Advice for New Mummies’ Facebook Group and Elaine Thurlow from the Mytchett Sure Start Centre.

Although the facebook group started in Surrey Heath, it now has an international following with members from as far as Australia.

Its appeal is a friendly and non judgmental online environment for young mums to seek each others support.

Aaahhh

I been neglecting my two blogs lately. Life just gets to me sometimes.

Anyway, time to play catch up. My daughter is doing really well in the Sure Start program. Just in case you don't know, Sure Start is a DoD program for pre-schoolers. It's a program to jump start pre-schooler's education before they dive into elementary. 

Well we just had her parent-teacher conference last week and she is a complete nerd LOL They went through testing to see where they stand and they needed a 14 to pass, and my smarty pants scored a 23!! 100% on her alphabets, and she really improved on her writing. Her teacher told me I don't have to worry much about her, because she's doing really well in class. I left the conference a proud mama =) I knew all that teaching and reading before she turned 1 was gonna pay off LOL

In other news: I'm almost done with my bachelors degree!!!!!!! I still can't believe that I'm this close. Next month, I can finally say that I'm done and that I'm a college graduate =) Yay me!
