Microsoft ends production of the Surface Laptop Studio 2 with no Surface Laptop Studio 3 in development, signaling a major shift in strategy

Okay, so Microsoft just ghosted the Surface Laptop Studio 2—no warning, no replacement, nada. 💀 This thing was a beast for artists, designers, and power users, and now it’s just… gone. Poof.

Even weirder? Microsoft’s new Surfaces are ditching performance for weaker Qualcomm chips. Are they giving up on creatives? And since Panos Panay (the OG Surface boss) dipped, Microsoft’s been quietly killing off experimental devices left and right. Is Surface even safe anymore?

I've got my hands on a brand new Surface Laptop Studio during Black Friday, and I'm having a blast ngl.

As a big surprise, the laptop appears to be way better than expected, and drawing on the screen is so smooth! Only the default Microsoft stylus is a bit crappy as it doesn't handle pressure points as accurately as a Wacom pen for instance. But I still enjoy drawing on it.

ここ何ヶ月かで手に入れたもの。 ・1枚目はDMMの3Dプリンターサービスで買える”漫画家の作った1/6可動デッサンドール2少女＆幼女” →気に入っております。 自分で組み立てる必要はありますが、フォルムを維持しながらのこの可動域は唯一無二ですね。 実は前モデルの”漫画家がつくった1/6可動デッサンドール”も所持していますが、こちらは関節の保持力が兎に角弱く正直使い物になりませんでした。 今回はそこを改善し、ネジとナットで稼働部の硬さを自分好みに調整できるのでほぼ無敵と言って良いでしょう。 背中にスタンド用の穴などは無いのでオビツのスタンド・アームで立たせてます。 ・1枚目の背景に写ってるのはSurface Laptop Studio →気に入っております。 これのお陰で最近お絵かきも再開いたしました。 14インチでアス比3:2でペンが使えてスペックも申し分ない、個人的に理想的なPC。 過去にiPad pro、Galaxy Tab S8 Ultraも使っていましたが、左手デバイスをフルでサポートしていない事。漫画を良く描く自分としては文字入力がしにかったり、折角のSペンもAndroid特有の描写遅延が気になるレベルだったので手放しました… そこにきてSurface Laptop Studioは魅力的に写り。Surface Slime pen2もあまり認知されてませんが、実は今までのSurface Pen特有の弱点であったジッターやon荷重の重さが全て解消されて最強になりました(笑) 描き心地は普通にApple PencilやSpenに匹敵すると思います。 特にレイテンシーの無さはOSの関係もあってかApple Pencilより遅延がありません。 唯一そのペン芯の単体販売がされてなかったので購入を見送っていたのですが、はれて公式でペン先の単体販売がされたので本体ごと購入するに至りました。 このペン芯が販売されてる事も知ってる人が少なそうですが… ・2枚目以降に写ってるハンドベルドのデバイスはAYNのOdin Lite →気に入っております。 クラウドファンディングで去年から投資していましたが、延期につぐ延期でつい先月届きました。 Android OSのハンドベルドデバイスで、多くの人はAndroidゲームやエミュレータでゲームをやる用途で購入してると思いますが、私はXbox Cloud GameでGame Passを遊ぶ為だけに購入しました(笑) 実際に遊んだ感じでは超快適です。 外出先でスマホのディザリングで遊んでも遅延なく遊べました。 イモータリティやTinykinなどはOdin Liteだけでクリアまで遊びました。 対戦ゲームやよりアクション性の高いものはXboxにインストールして遊び、アドベンチャーやRPG、2DアクションなどはOdin Liteで手軽に遊ぼうと思います。
