...and other side effects of working from home...
Since Monday I did solid 30 hours of work on my computer. If anyone is wondering what I do, I am a CAD Technician ( CAD or AutoCAD is a computer program for design and drafting ) and in progress to become Revit Technician ( Revit is a program for Construction, Mechanical and Architectural design, in my case I use the Architectural side of it ).
But anyways, houses needed to be designed! Still do... but I’m taking a break since my brains are melting and my eyes popping out...... not litterally....
On days like today, I am glad I spend a bit extra on my glasses and added a UV filter to protect my eyes from blue light. Since I suffer from recurring Iritis it is a must have for me!
I'm also glad I spend extra on an ergonomic chair and a posture corrector because without it my second name would be The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It’s no joke, when you hit 30 your body absolutely sucks! Well at least mine does.....
So I’d like to introduce you to my workspace :)
If anyone is interested in the set up and where things were gotten, it is as follows:
1. Desk, chair, floor protector, drawers and desk accessories were ordered from IKEA ( what else duh? ). The chair cost me €75 and the back support is awesome, well compared to a generic desk chair you can get for cheap.
2. Desk lamp and the wireless mouse and keyboard are both from Amazon.de. It took me about a month to find a perfect desk lamp, they are freaking expensive! Mouse and keyboard are just generic ones doing just fine, nice and smooth.
3. Surface Pro (4) and Surface Dock using as my second screen for sketches, notes, media, video tutorials and video calls. The surface pen is absolutely amazing for quick notes and editing pdfs. I also use the surface for on the go work or just browsing, its such a handy little thing!
---->>> Monitor: Dell S2721HGF 27″ Full HD Curved Gaming Monitor ( Currys PC World Ireland )
---->>> Tower: Dell G5, i7-10700F, GTX 1660 Super 6GB DDR6 Graphics, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD ( Dell.ie ) I like to call it SUPER FLASHY LED MACHINE.
---->>> Speakers: the cheapest speakers that would fit under the monitor I found on Currys.ie website for €20, brand Advent I think. They’re working just fine for giving me error sounds! And occasional annoying The Sims 3 music....
5. I’d also like to note my amazing work at cable management! NOT! But seriously you should have seen what it was before I tidied it up... I was fine with it until I pulled my lamp by the cable with my feet knocking everything over..........
6. In ear sound for voice calls and music Google Pixel Buds 2, paired with all 3 devices, surface, desktop and my phone.
And obviously many plants, wow!
If you're working from home what does your office look like?
