THE ANNUAL SPRING BOARDWALK CARNIVAL // EVENT O N E!!

hang on to your bikinis and trunks dudes and dudettes, it’s that time once again for surfside’s 65th annual spring boardwalk carnival!! to celebrate the coming of spring and that beautiful florida sunshine ( and tourist season ), the town of surfside hosts a week-long event for residents and visitors alike. the shops and vendors that line the sandy streets come to life with decorative booths highlighting and selling the best of their collections. friends, families and visitors camp along the beach with bonfires spreading across the sand dunes at night. daily activities such as scavenger hunts, food eating contests, boat rides, jetski races are provided to you by the beloved mayor of miami and city hall team. and the biggest and most popular event of all: the carnival located on the boardwalk. a ferris wheel, rollercoaster, carousel, bumper cars and all your favorite fair foods line our beloved surfside boardwalk. of course, our nightclubs and bars will be open during the week for all of your late night festivities!! you don’t wanna miss it!!

alright so our first event is pretty much this entire carnival thing but there’s a few important things to note that will definitely be a little different than what you’d see in a normal event. first things first, everyone will be camping out on the beach and will be sharing a tent!! due to our somewhat uneven ratio, there will be a tent that has an extra person in it but expect to find the tent mates list posted as soon as this gets posted. secondly, throughout the five days the event’s happening, we’ve decided to assign a ‘scavenger hunt/task list’ of sorts to each tent. each tent will be considered a team and has to get everything done on the list they’ve been assigned; these things will range from ‘kiss a stranger for 10 seconds’ to ‘moon someone on the boardwalk’ to all kinds of different things. the whole point of the list is to get people involved and get plots going and to get all kinds of interactions going. the event will start on FRIDAY, MARCH 17TH and will end on TUESDAY, MARCH 21ST. feel free to do all kinds of threads, paras, chatzys, etc. just remember this is primarily a dash event so starters will be tagged under surfside:event and surfside:starter just so everyone has a chance to interact with each other!! we hope you guys enjoy this event as much as we will!! make sure to like this once you’ve read it!!

taeil examined his surroundings, leaning against the counter of his tent as he watched a few kids play along the shore line. he sighed softly talking to a few patrons as the passed but still kept his longing gaze along the beach. “hey, let’s ditch the tent for a bit...and go play yeah? i wanna have some fun.”

“My son is so mad at me right now. I took him home from the fair for a bit because he needed a nap. While we were laying down in bed he started freaking out saying he needed to throw up. I rushed him to the bathroom so he could vomit. What do you think my child is doing?” Lincoln sighed as he continued on with his story. “He’s just making vomit noises into the toilet, so he didn’t have to nap.” He shook his head before taking a swig of beer. “I feel bad I punished him. I should have brought him back to the fair?” Lincoln has now been a parents for three years and still felt bad when he had to punish him.

walking along the beach, lips set in a frown, the girl had half a mind to turn around and leave, head back home to her desk & books. but she persisted. not because she wanted to attend a festival that would drain her of both her energy & her time, but because it would be a good place to do some research. to observe the people around her and attempt to add them into her pieces, add something to the collection she was working on. also her editor had all but told her she was required to go — for research sake, of course. so here she was, clad in a black bikini with a jacket hanging off her shoulders, a notebook & pen in one hand, and a scowl on her lips. blue eyes darted back and forth between the people around her, attempting to find a suitable subject. picking one, a man about twice her age sitting on the beach with a jane austen novel sitting next to him, she sat down a few spots behind him, not paying mind to who she sat next to. “interesting,” she murmured to herself, pulling her notebook open and beginning to scrawl a few notes down, eyes trained on the man.

two fingers delicately press on the muscle sitting between her spine and shoulder, tilting her head slightly to stretch in an attempt to alleviate the pain. the discomfort is overbearing and while the back of her SUV was filled with a plethora of medicines, repellents and a first aid kit — it wasn’t equipped with their heat balm or a chiropractor. pulling her body of the sleeping bag she slowly looks towards the keys of her car, almost as if they were looking back at her with tantalising eyes. doubts lingered through her mind but it only takes a split second for her to quickly grab them as she begins walking to the area which she’d park. at that moment, she’s barely thinking. all she wants is a nights rest in her own bedroom and a proper place to shower. as she’s about to open the door, a sound emits from a couple of metres, causing her eyes to widen in shyness. “i’m not planning on leaving,” her voice drops, though the lie seems to depart from her lips a little TOO naturally, “… uh, just wanted to move parking spots, you know ? somewhere that’s not full of gravel and mud.”
