Did you know each piece of Calaisio (pronounced like: kuh-lay-zee-oh) is made entirely by hand by artisans in the South Pacific? The vine used to construct each piece is called “vignes d’eau” or water vine, and it only grows in mountain jungles on remote islands in the South Pacific. It is difficult to reach and challenging to harvest, but, once reaped, grows back quickly, leaving no damage in the ecologically-sensitive forests. At a mere 3 millimeters in diameter — barely 1/4 as thick as thick as typical rattan — the water-vine is time-consuming to weave but yields a substantially more durable, heat-resistant and elegant product. . . #charlestonstreet #surreycenter #augusta #calaisio #home #accessories #giftideas (at Charleston Street) https://www.instagram.com/p/CERt8cel-NZ/?igshid=1wintw60sbjyo
