He heard the sound of rushing water and came to investigate it. “——??” Jay peeked his head into the bathroom since the door was wide open and saw Ellie running a bath. “What is this, bud?” Well, it was obvious but he had to ask. “Running a bath? Oh, wow. You’re being more responsible than me, and that’s saying something.”

It had been a few days since she started picking up shifts at the Spirale Library, a rather imposing building in Golden Ward filled with more books than Barbara had ever seen in one building before. While she was hesitant about the idea of continuing her existence here as if she weren't an inmate in an exceptionally large prison, she did still need to eat.
During each shift, she noticed the same girl sitting at the same table and wearing the same clothes. In fact, Barbara was under the impression she might have been sleeping in the library when it closed. Though that was just a guess. It wasn't an unusual sight to her; Gotham libraries saw their fair share of homeless people seeking shelter, but a girl this young shouldn't be living like this. The redhead wheeled herself out from behind the front desk to talk to the girl.
"Hi. Sorry, but are you alright? Are you in any kind of danger? Is there someone I could call for you?" Maybe she had gotten the wrong impression, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
